A quick guide for the epic fantasy "Successor," by Jason Krell. It reads: A world of Spirits and Gods, and power run rampant. Ever since childhood, Cyrus only wanted to live a life of heroism far from home. But when her only friend is cursed to be a vessel for the absent Creator’s unstable power, the search for answers about how to set things right thrusts Cyrus into a world of dangerous rulers, haunting spirits, and scheming gods. It comps to The Adventures of Amina al-Sirafi by Shannon Chakraborty for its world spanning adventure and A Song of Legends Lost by M.H. Ayinde for its spirit meddling and magic. It also features a snippet from the story: “Cyrus reached out for Layla’s limp hand and squeezed all her determination into it. No matter the odds, she would figure out a way to save her. I think my FAVORITE thing about this are "the difference is" tabs at the top. That does SO MUCH to help identify where my decks land. For example, all of my decks have lots of efficient staples. But almost NONE of them are very fast. So I'd been struggling about whether they're 3s or 4s. Now I know.

Every time I think about how my manuscript's word count makes it basically DOA for querying, I get sad. But then I remind myself this first book has always been about proving I can finish something. That helps a little.
