@danyork thanks for including the conversion else I think it was a typo. I can't imagine that temperature right now. Sincerely, Man where it is 80° F (~26.5°C) at 6:20 am before sunrise.

@darnell I can only assume it is one of those posturing positions meant to get the MAGA base excited (ha! We're going to get those liberals!) but they'll never actually do. Trump still has a building in Chicago, a sanctuary city for 40 years.

I knew that the Department of War shot a missile into a school & killed 175 civilians, mostly children. This is learned today: Secretary of War Hegseth had cut the teams assigned to prevent such tragedies by 90%. www.npr.org/2026/03/11/n...

After a series of fatal strikes involving civilians in Iraq and Afghanistan, Congress directed the Pentagon to reduce civilian casualties as part of a 2019 law. During the Biden administration, the Defense Department created the Civilian Harm Mitigation and Response initiative.

The civilian mitigation teams – cut by 90% by Hegseth – work with military commanders on target planning, and making sure that targets are actually military sites. The teams help come up with "no strike" lists, including religious and cultural sites and schools

Fair warning: wait a few days to follow if you're wanting to follow (for whatever reason). The bulk import has another ~36 hours until it is done so there will be probably 300 posts in that time. (Untappd's API limits keeps this tap at a slow drip)

@danyork Just Monday *except* all of the kids are home too. I don't have any meetings on the schedule so I might just make it a snow day myself (or at least a "I'll keep things moving but not very fast" dayl.

ICE Agents removed someone’s gun, then shot and killed him, and said the gun was their justification. How are 2A advocates not joining the protests?

The Bill of Rights, including the 1st, 2nd, and 4th amendments, were added immediately because some states thought the Constitution needed to be explicit about them. They were right.

The movie Unstoppable with Denzel and Chris Pine about the runaway train is the perfect hotel movie. The one you put on at the hotel when you don’t want to pay attention to anything and just want to mindlessly have something on. It’s a silly movie that keeps your attention *just* enough. #movies

I think both are true: AI is a bubble and AI is a transformative technology that isn’t going away. Think dotcom in ~2000. The Internet is transformative but the first wave of money had no idea what to do with it.

It's what allows a Mastodon server to host other people without being completely liable for what they say. Section 230 is an important protection for sites that host user-generated content. Without 230’s protection, any website that allows other people to publish on it wouldn’t be legally viable. It allowed the Internet to develop beyond only content published by individuals on their own sites.
