i didn't grow up going to church, and i did feel like i was at a deficit relative to my peers in high school & college english classes. i never wanted to *be* religious, but i wished that i had had a better understanding of religion/religious history in the US without having to *go* to church

Not making the connection here. I see no link between my line of thinking on data centers and childhood vaccines. Backlash against data centers is not a government mandate, it's popular. There are tangible negative externalities associated with data centers. That is not the case with vaccines.

They are the physical manifestation of people's concerns around AI. They are colossal, ugly, and annoyingly loud for people who live near them. They consume massive amounts of energy that we generally don't have the infrastructure for. I think the public's angst with them makes sense.

In most parts around the country the break even point is 7-12 years. Maybe add on a few years for parts of the country that have abundant very very low-cost power. Utility rates keeps rising, cost for solar & storage keep going down, almost at exponential rates. Solar rules.

Of course, most places have tried to hurt solar. However, it's incredible that DeSantis vetoed a bill that would have hurt solar in FL, where Newsom signed into law a very similar bill in NEM 3.0. Drives me bonkers.

Some states/utilities still cut checks for negative bills like this. PNM in New Mexico, for example. If credits exceed $20, they write a check, otherwise just credit next month's bill by $20. So maybe that's this person's situaish or they are in CA and on NEM 1.0

residential solar & storage is honestly incredible with how quickly costs have come down and its quality, and people are finding out all over the country. red states, too - TX and FL have tons of resi solar. and home batteries are a modern miracle

And for better or worse, it's virtually certain he's going to be the nominee for the general. While I'm glad I'm not a Maine voter that would have to choose, I personally would vote for Platner 10 out of 10 times over Susan fucking Collins.
