iiinova — where your digital self keeps evolving

So excited to read an advance copy of the second Seahawks book from my friend @mikedugar.bsky.social, this one with a more unambiguous positive ending.

Sorry to break it to you this way!

Devastating that future generations will be deprived of this experience.

Ah, ESPN was wrong, he was a restricted free agent but just re-signed with the Sonics rather than doing an offer sheet. And both were non-Bird so the Sonics couldn't match the Watson offer after using the midlevel on James.

Their only other RFA was Ansu Sesay so I don't think that's the one you're remembering.

In terms of signing Watson to an offer sheet while the Sonics were still trying to figure out whether Rashard Lewis would take them into the tax?

Congrats! We'll miss your regular Seahawks coverage but can't wait to see you shine in the new role

Searched for "Timbers" and "hat trick" and this came up, might be worth checking out: www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ImI...

I was making dinner and it felt like every time I came back to the TV they'd scored another goal

Please place a double-double, animal-style, on the empty seat as a tribute.

Not getting those texts was a benefit of leaving media for me for sure!

So happy for my friend @timbontemps.bsky.social on joining the Atlanta Hawks front office. Like so many Hoop Collective listeners, I'm going to miss the Tims bickering with Windy on the podcast, but I know Tim is going to do great with a strong front office in Atlanta. www.espn.com/nba/story/_/...

Move Summer League to Portland and use the Moda Center and Memorial Coliseum IMHO

It's amazing there has never been a good documentary about this given how many unnecessary ones there are.

Needed to propose, Ian Johnson-style.

No, not now that I'm working for an NBA franchise. @jessefischer33.bsky.social does a good roundup of advanced stats models for the draft on the other site, if that's what you're thinking rather than free agency: x.com/jessefischer...

I guess I object to "TV show" as opposed to "entertainment."

I think that's seeing it through too much of an American pro sports lens. A lot of the problems in college sports, for example, stem from forgetting that part of the reason sports make for compelling TV is the experience of people *at the game*.

Was there for the fifth, sixth and seventh blocks of Brittney Griner's WNBA career in June 2013 (her second game). It was obvious then she would eventually surpass the late Margo Dydek as the league's all-time leader. Congrats, BG!

Fun fact: Dydek had no blocks in her brief 2008 WNBA season, so she recorded her 877th block in 2007 while playing for the Connecticut Sun. Griner has now broken that record with her 4th block of the night and 878th of her regular season career, also playing for the Sun.

No, not while I'm working for an NBA team.

Afraid this means you'll never play for Jesse Marsch

I would definitely do this if I were in music.

It's a long list but blowing right through Jonathan's advice was something.

A broadly applicable lesson from this week's Top Chef elimination: The more you push back against criticism, the more you force people to double down on it.
