Found some more potential work on this board. Oh well! 🤣

Bodge wire needed on broken trace, both sides of board.

Still no idea where this goes on the top side.

I sat down today to look into this copyright claim against one of my videos where I'm playing Super Mario Brothers 2. The claimant is claims copyright on this video which they have uploaded: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zqdw... This doesn't look like Nintendo... 1/2

So, here's a look at the PB 486 board I have been working on. Posting mainly because a) to help others just as frustrated with their projects as I am and b) in case someone sees something I missed. I'll keep at it! Link in reply. #retrocomputing #vintagecomputing #retropc #varta #motherboard #i486

When we opened up this Mac Classic on stream, I said something like "I think we're going to let this one go." But it's been itching at my brain, so let's see what we can do. Saturday noon EDT. youtube.com/live/kRLPxBj...

Let's hope these don't break so easily 😶

Still getting error 66, but found more broken traces and vias. And on top of that I broke my micro drill bits. I used them to open up the vias to help run bodge wires. Ordering more. There will be a rats nest of wires. #retrocomputing #pcbrepair #vintagepc #soldering

Tested traces. Most working, some, can't find the other side...

Well, powers on, but doesn't get past Phoenix BIOS error code 66 (heh). 1-1-4-1 (beep, beep, 4 quick beeps, 1 continuous beep). Apparently something about configuring advanced cache registers. I do not have any external cache. Gotta look that one up later. Could be jumpers. #retropc #pcrepair #i486

More clean up using a fiberglass brush and a rubber tip for a Dremel. Needed to "expand" 2 of the existing broken traces to the underside as vias connected the 74F151 with a resistor pack just above the battery. Would be easier to bodge from the top, but I'll try the cleaner approach first.

Took a fiberglass brush and rubber Dremel tip to remove more of the corrosion

Got my work cut out for me... This is after initial cleanup and battery removal. So far at least 7 bad traces. Came from a tower, so the battery mostly leaked down into the chassis. and yes, that 74F151 fell off. Pads still intact though! I have replacements. #retrocomputing #retropc

Ahh yes, Schrodinger's PC! Has the battery vomited or not? It's not even far from me. I'd put in an offer if I knew what was in store for me when I opened it. Even just a few damaged traces would be ok-ish. #retropc #vintagecomputing #varta #packardbell #battery #msdos

Another #pickup video! Just one thing this time, Super Mario Kart for the Super Famicom, compatible with the #SNES! Super Famicom games are a great way to save money on collecting for the SNES as long as the game isn't text-heavy, though I do hint at an option. youtube.com/shorts/PcA31...

PSA for anyone annoyed with iOS 27’s whole drag-to-search AI thing in screenshots, you can turn that off. Go to settings > screen time > content and privacy restrictions > Siri Scroll to the bottom and turn off Extensions You may also want to kill off image generation too while you’re in here.

I have 3 Aztech cards, don't remember the models, but one is a modem combo. All came from dead or need to refurbish Packard Bells. Decent cards!

Also make sure you’re *not* buying any digital PlayStation games and *are* buying physical ones - because that matters way more than any social media noise could ever hope to accomplish lol
