Not learning how to survive a school shooting before she even knows how to do long division.And I am tired of accepting this as normal.Republican leaders in Congress have repeatedly opposed major gun safety measures, including expanded background checks and an assault weapons ban, while our children continue to grow up in a country plagued by gun violence. We cannot keep mourning, sending thoughts and prayers, and then accepting political inaction as the status quo. Our kids deserve more than thoughts and prayers. They deserve action.Here's something you can do TODAY:Call your members of Congress. Tell them you expect meaningful action on gun violence prevention, including universal background checks, safe storage laws, and evidence-based policies to keep guns away from people who pose a danger. Find your representatives at house.gov and senate.gov.Demand accountability. Ask your representatives what specific gun safety legislation they support, and where they stand on the record. Don't let them hide behind vague statements.Share this. Have the uncomfortable conversation. Refuse to let this become another tragedy we forget about a week later.Our children cannot vote.
