It’s because Bloons Tower Defense 3 had a trademark dispute and they had to call it Bloons TD 3 They’ve made additional Bloons TD sequels, and other games who want to give you shorthand that it’s the same kind of game are using TD to do so

Bloons TD 3 was released on September 5, 2008, months after the release of Bloons Tower Defense 2, named differently due to a trademark dispute with Com2uS. As with the second game, new towers, bloons such as the MOAB (Massive Ordnance Air Bloon), and maps were added.

I do miss all this stuff though I wish Nintendo would offer printed manuals, even if they were like a “deluxe” add-on sold separately somehow Man, I remember buying this on launch day and playing it with my brother for the entire day. An awesome game.

You can see the propellors at the base! Also had a huge issue with enemies - Spongebob couldn’t be violent so the lead programmer came up with the brilliant idea that the citizens were being harassed by bubbles and by jumping on their heads you ‘rescued’ them
