I’m deeply grateful for Bill Moyers’ PBS work, his ceaseless voice of opposition to corporate media and how he turned public television into a classroom of ideas, urging us to question, connect and care. I hope his clarity, compassion and integrity will leave an enduring mark on the media landscape.

Dear Vancouver, BC, Your city is very lovely. I came to Canada yesterday and within hours I accidentally broke a law and fed some crows before I saw the sign saying not to. But the crows were REALLY cute! And I feed crow friends everywhere. I hope you can forgive me. Your country is very nice.

Zero Cool Convicted in Landmark Cybercrime Case
Young hacker faces significant consequences in controversial ruling
BY LOYD BLANKENSHIP
Yesterday marked the conclusion of a landmark trial involving 11-year-old hacker prodigy Dade Murphy, known by his alias "Zero Cool." Murphy was convicted on multiple counts related to a devastating cyberattack that caused the crash of 1,507 computer systems, sending shockwaves through the digital and financial sectors.

Critics argue that Murphy's extraordinary skills should have been nurtured rather than criminalized, especially at a time when computers are becoming more essential to daily life. The controversial conviction, made under the recently enacted Computer Fraud and Abuse Act (CFAA) of 1986, has ignited widespread debate about how society treats young tech enthusiasts who push boundaries in their curiosity.

The late 1980s seem to mark a significant turning point in digital culture and law, with the CFAA establishing harsher penalties for cyber-related crimes. Educators and technology advocates highlight the importance of distinguishing malicious intent from youthful exploration, urging the legal system to adapt and foster innovation instead of suppressing it.

As a nonbinary person, I’m so glad I can no longer fill out a FASFA honestly. When do we become great again? Because it sure feels like our country spotted great and is running as fas as possible in the opposite direction.
A screenshot from doge.gov (which is basically a twitter feed) with a tweet from Libs of TikTok @libsoftiktok:

“Online FAFSA application forms for student aid are still listing the option to select "nonbinary" for a student's gender.

This needs to be changed immediately”

This is retweeted by Department of Government Efficiency

It looks like I’ll be diving into the world of Asterisk! After some PBX-related polls on Mastodon, the people have spoken! I’ll be setting up my own personal PBX and learning Asterisk. Time to wrangle SIP trunks, dial plans, and maybe even some phreaking history along the way. Stay tuned!
Behold the mighty Asterisk logo! A bold, orange asterisk majestically encased within an oval, radiating the power of open-source telephony like a cosmic beacon for PBX enthusiasts everywhere. This isn’t just any asterisk—oh no! It’s the superhero of VoIP, the unsung champion of SIP trunking, the silent guardian of your IVR menus. With a minimalist yet commanding presence, this logo silently declares, ‘Yes, I can route your calls, handle your conference bridges, and make your dial plans sing like an angelic chorus of SIP packets.’ Some say it resembles a friendly, oversized snowflake or a star that wandered into the wrong PowerPoint slide, but to those who know, this humble symbol is a gateway to boundless telephonic possibilities. Whether you see it as a badge of nerdy honor or a foreboding sigil warning of late-night debugging sessions, one thing is certain: Asterisk is here to make your calls go through… or at least log every failed attempt in excruciating detail.
