I was in #spain for the #eclipse too! You've probably been bombarded with eclipse spam already. But I think I have something interesting for those who haven't seen it, but want to experience it a bit too. (1/2)

Hi there. A bit of #astrophotography madness for you. Did you know that mounting a reducer on an @celestronuniverse.bsky.social #EdgeHD925 can be a challenge? When there is a #ZWO #EAF mounted too, you need to reduce the bracket as well. #hacksaw youtu.be/5hUqAVTlH88

Work in progress. M51 has somehow evaded my attention in my #astrophotography. I have some sets of data on my harddisk, but nothing to really be proud of. That is going to change, now I shoot it with the EdgeHD 9.25”. Perhaps I should start adding L-eXtreme data to it. 56x180s so far

Wishing for clearer ways to educate people to the downsides of #lightpollution. So much of nighttime lighting is unneeded and often unnecessarily pointing into the air. Most people don't see it as pollution, shrug their shoulders and close their blackout curtains to be able to get some sleep. 😢

The winter night sky (& Jupiter) through the canopy of an old Dartmoor oak. I’ve been trying to get this exact shot with this tree for a number of years, but sky conditions/positioning never worked out. Finally it all came together on Thursday under bitterly cold, clear skies. #astrophotography
The winter constellations of Canis Major, Orion, Taurus and Auriga appear through the silhouetted canopy of a Dartmoor woodland. Thousands of points of light appear through the bare branches and boughs and the brighter stars show their clear colour differences from blues and whites to yellows and oranges.

🔭 Solar Analemma 2024 Image Credit & Copyright: Betul Turksoy apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap25010...
Recorded during 2024, this year-spanning series of images reveals a pattern in the seasonal drift of the Sun's daily motion through planet Earth's sky. Known to some as an analemma, the figure-eight curve was captured in exposures taken only at 1pm local time on clear days from Kayseri, Turkiye. Of course the Sun's position on the 2024 solstice dates was at the top and bottom of the curve. They correspond to the astronomical beginning of summer and winter in the north. The points along the curve half-way between the solstices, but not the figure-eight curve crossing point, mark the 2024 equinoxes and the start of spring and fall. Regional peaks and dormant volcano Mount Erciyes lie along the southern horizon in the 2024 timelapse skyscape.
