Yeah, I don't subscribe to that. Cultivating a "zeal" for specific objectives over people sounds to me like tuning out competing information or arguments those people may say, to stay single-mindedly focused. Also called zealotry, and a surrender of independent thought I do not encourage in anyone.

We are hiring a Lead Product Manager to bring their experience dealing with modern threats to bear on Wikipedia’s security strategy in the AI era, and to drive a strong security culture throughout the Wikimedia Foundation and movement.

Though this is a senior role, prior experience in a product manager role is not required. This position is intended to bring strong technical and security experience, including some familiarity with AI in a security context, into a role focused on product and platform strategy.

This position could be a good fit for a candidate with both strong technical skills and strong communication skills, who is interested in transitioning from engineering work to a strategic role.

This role is an opportunity to be at the center of a pivotal time for Wikipedia, as AI is not only changing security, but also how people access knowledge online. Responding to these changes requires us to plan ambitiously and act decisively, while working closely with the communities whom the project serves.

I mean both. Many people may not like AI being shoehorned into existing things, but core AI products (chatbots, agent based stuff) have penetrated every demographic and tremendous numbers of people use them in unignorable ways -- as consumers, and at work. Regular life is steadily changing.

The most security-conscious and well-resourced teams in the world expect a constant stream of bugs from themselves. That is the way of things. If anything is going to change that, it's probably going to be the same AI systems that are now finding them, but wiring them into dev going forward.

I know that "sparkles" as the common AI icon is pretty easy to make fun of. It's pretty silly. But remember we've been using a cloud to represent "the internet" for decades now. It's the exact same "you don't need to know, it's just magic" vibe. I've been making fun of that thing the whole time!

The biggest surprise in 2025 for me was The Séance of Blake Manor. It's set in 1897 Ireland, with hand-drawn 3D animation, great voice acting -- and a talent for scaring without jump-scares. It deserves its many rave reviews, and you should play it! store.steampowered.com/app/1395520/...

Not a puzzle or detective game! There's now a big action incremental subgenre. For many, the action is a bit throwaway. But Astro Prospector actually cares about both - it's a genuinely solid incremental and bullet hell (without hellish difficulty). A+ store.steampowered.com/app/3503440/...

The Electrifying Incident is a bite-sized puzzle game, by Draknek et al. It's at a more accessible difficulty than their others, but with the same level of design and charm they always bring. This was a joy to play with my 5yo, who loved the whole thing. store.steampowered.com/app/3352300/...

Because you're better than being driven by feelings like that. You're only responding to the people in that demographic who are fighting you. Even when arguing, we should be speaking to the people in that demographic who are watching, who haven't made up their minds about who they are.
