If you see this we IMPLORE you to post a picture from whatever device you’re using without an explanation.
Bright yellow chair shaped like the outline of a human figure, with two black ovals for eyes and a target design on its 'chest'.

Remember! Ghosts are not just for October. They are for Christmas, the anniversaries of unavenged murders, and really any time you least expect them.

I haven't yet seen it, but after reading an article that gave away the big twist I think it sounds more interesting than the trailers made it seem. My dad is a big fan of One Way Pendulum!

Yep, obviously not the main issue here but it bugs me when people use 'medieval' as a snarl word. There's literally nothing medieval about a live-streamed firing squad.

Spotting the Star Trek/ Columbo actors is fun. I like Arlene Martel who played Spock's intended bride and was one of Columbo's repeat guest cast. France Nguyen, who was married to Culp, is also nice trivia.

One reason we stopped doing this, aside from the moral one, is that it doesn't serve justice. It turns punishment into a circus and the condemned person into a martyr/folk hero.

Yes. An audio recording misses out in one of the main advantages of reading aloud with a child, being able to associate the spoken word with its written form.

There's a long history of millenniarian thinking in Christianity. There were peaks around 1000 and 1033 CE, when some believed the Second Coming was scheduled to occur. Another at the time of the Black Death, when plague seemed to be causing an unstoppable chain reaction.

I admit I knew her best from her guest appearance in Frasier (as Roz's mother). Need to catch up with her classic roles.

I agree that Trump and Kennedy would be poor at dealing with a serious health emergency, but serious outbreaks of plague are unlikely in reasonably sanitary conditions. Human to human transmission isn't the main way it spreads.

Christmas is coming... and so is another spine-tingling Ghost Story from Mark Gatiss. ❄️ This year, Martin Freeman and Jim Broadbent lead the cast of The Bride's Chamber, based on one of Charles Dickens's darkest tales. www.radiotimes.com/tv/fantasy/mark-…

Some of those are definitely better than others! (Angusina sounds like an ailment.) The daughter of Prince Rupert of the Rhine was named 'Rupertina'; she was illegitimate so maybe it was the easiest way to give her her father's name?

If clarification is necessary, this isn't about defending the current Israeli government or its actions in Gaza (both of which are appalling). The way to oppose those things is not to make what in my view is a clearly antisemitic statement, nor to make Jewish members of our party vulnerable.

Her: You got a father? Me: Yes. Her: Where's he? Me: He doesn't live here. Her: You got a sister? Me: No Her: Brother? Me: No Her: You've got no one! I came away not knowing whether to laugh or cry; I felt like I'd encountered some truth-telling sybil in the wilderness.

There's an eccentric older lady around town who embraces random people on the street and starts talking to them. I met her today, and in between telling me her life story, she asked very direct questions about mine: Her: You got a husband? Me: No. Her: You got a mother? Me: No.

Worrying scenes in the Channel today, for all interested in asylum policy and maritime tactics. A small boat from Normandy spent more than 30 hours at sea. Those on board now on their 2nd rescue vessel as Border Force forced to play cat and mouse with far-right activists who have their own boat.

Thank you for reporting on this. I hope @thetimes.com also covers it in print. It boggles the mind that our government brought in laws to stop protesters gluing themselves to pavements, yet this gang seems to get away with violent confrontation.

That total is over the past few years, so it's more like 3x the median salary. Still disproportionate to her service, though.
