Kriek Jooste @kokey.bsky.social · 10/10/2026I think there is a massive gap in the market for convertible sportster EVs. 120
Kriek Jooste @kokey.bsky.social · 21/09/2026I was being sarcastic. I’m actually rather fond of what he says and writes in general. 000
Kriek Jooste @kokey.bsky.social · 21/09/2026The end of history and the end of boom and bust, what’s not to like. 100
Kriek Jooste @kokey.bsky.social · 10/09/2026In the financial industry you usually see investing advice from a taxi driver as a sign of a bubble hitting the peak and it’s about to pop. However on geopolitics I think it’s a good indication of what propaganda is being pushed on social media at the moment. 030
Kriek Jooste @kokey.bsky.social · 26/08/2026Yes, Siri really made a lot of us think AI is not progressing as fast as it was progressing. 020
Kriek Jooste @kokey.bsky.social · 12/06/2026My Fujitsu wall mount control also drives me mad, especially the impossible hard to read ‘mode’ symbols except in very bright light. 100
Kriek Jooste @kokey.bsky.social · 10/06/2026Perhaps if Bellingcat was an alternative way to spell Bell Pottinger. 100
Kriek Jooste @kokey.bsky.social · 04/06/2026When I lived in Gibraltar I watched a C-17 land in bad weather, after a few attempts. It's impressive. 110
Kriek Jooste @kokey.bsky.social · 13/04/2026That won't be possible on the Midland Main Line, there's basically no connectivity options that work for calls or video on it. 000

Kriek Jooste @kokey.bsky.social · 17/03/2026If I had a ship that I wanted to sail through there I sure would make sure the approach and passage would be as invisible as possible over AIS. You would see me disappear for a long time and perhaps never reappear near the strait, or reappear as a different ship on the other side. 100
Kriek Jooste @kokey.bsky.social · 23/02/2026Edison would have been happy to know that this is helping DC residents and not AC residents. 110
Kriek Jooste @kokey.bsky.social · 06/02/2026That would have saved me hours of struggling, and also spared the environment of a large number of curse words. 010

Kriek Jooste @kokey.bsky.social · 24/01/2026I find that AI do a lot of useful things well but if I ask it about the specialist technical issues I encounter it hallucinates hard enough to be useless, but with so much confidence that I get tricked into wasting my time. 020
Kriek Jooste @kokey.bsky.social · 17/01/2026You can run meshcore on most of the same devices as meshtastic. It's really easy to reflesh a meshtastic device to meshcore. 110
Kriek Jooste @kokey.bsky.social · 16/01/2026Yes, but have been replacing it with MeshCore which works a lot better. I think Meshtastic was a good project to spark the idea, but it’s going to be difficult to improve it to a useful level due to some architectural limitations. 030
Kriek Jooste @kokey.bsky.social · 03/01/2026I’m also not a Cisco fan but I certainly recommend a CCNA as a good place to start. 020
Kriek Jooste @kokey.bsky.social · 05/11/2025I had an issue with a Canon inkjet printer and came across a video from someone that found a solution. The solution was to smash the printer and buy an Epson. It turned out to be the best printer advice I got in years. 060
Kriek Jooste @kokey.bsky.social · 12/10/2025I used to think having a local mirror of Wikipedia would be essential for a prepper, but a few good LLMs would now be it. 000

Kriek Jooste @kokey.bsky.social · 03/09/2025It could even be something like an overly keen security officer using a jammer for drones, for 'protection', but if that was the case I would think it will be something the authorities would be very reluctant to openly admit for a lot of reasons. 110

Kriek Jooste @kokey.bsky.social · 25/07/2025Yup, BBC radio 4. I stream it mostly, but if I have just an FM set it’s what I’ll be listening to. It’s something I find useful to listen to and I think only NPR is comparable. 010
Kriek Jooste @kokey.bsky.social · 01/07/2025It reminds me of the mystery patches on my lawn. I tested the soil and checked with a thermal camera and geiger counter but got no clues what caused it. It turns out that my wife poured boiling hot water on there to kill ants. 000
Kriek Jooste @kokey.bsky.social · 26/06/2025I've been into the FPV drone hobby for several years before the invasion started, so this is not surprising to me. The tech is experimental and fast moving and we spent more time fixing crashed drones or upgrading obsolete components than actual flying. However, it still evolves impressively fast. 000
Kriek Jooste @kokey.bsky.social · 07/06/2025It's 7 June 2025 and it doesn't appear to be available in the UK yet on Amazon Prime or Apple TV. 000
Kriek Jooste @kokey.bsky.social · 05/06/2025I think it’s also because many people outside of the core defence industry are contributing, with a focus on results, scale and resilience due to an existential threat. Very unlike the business of peacetime deterrence for profit. 010
Kriek Jooste @kokey.bsky.social · 19/05/2025cleaning up the clutter with AI didn't work quite as well as they thought 010

Kriek Jooste @kokey.bsky.social · 15/05/2025I think that chart is at best a great troll, or second to that a good demonstration of your point about how left vs right is of limited use. 040

Kriek Jooste @kokey.bsky.social · 08/05/2025I think the scale of it is cyclical. Alternative medicine, woo, snake oil etc. has always been around but the recent boom correlates with the rise of social media 10-15 years ago. Similar story with snake oil and ‘patent medicine’ during the times of yellow journalism. 010
Kriek Jooste @kokey.bsky.social · 29/04/2025I've worked with digital electronics and microcontrollers for a long time, but starting to work with higher voltages has been quite scary. I only had to worry about a bit of smoke before if I get something wrong. With higher voltages you should not be catching mistakes the hard way. 010
Kriek Jooste @kokey.bsky.social · 27/04/2025I really like these conversation style videos, and your timing on the edits also feels really spot on and your acting is not bad. 000
Kriek Jooste @kokey.bsky.social · 27/04/2025The Sony PVM is also very nice, desirable and has many uses. 000
Kriek Jooste @kokey.bsky.social · 02/04/2025It usually still costs money to have access to a comfortable indoor space to eat together. This is why I regularly say there's an opportunity to improve social interaction if we can make access to town centre spaces more affordable. 000
Kriek Jooste @kokey.bsky.social · 21/03/2025I think there is an opportunity here if recreational and social venues in communities, especially in town centres, can be given the necessary support and tax breaks. 010
Kriek Jooste @kokey.bsky.social · 03/03/2025While we watch a lot of institutions get dismantled, even though it's painful, we can see throughout history how quickly institutions got rebuilt because people in society remembers how they worked. It's often even better, as during this process we identify which functions are the most important. 000

Kriek Jooste @kokey.bsky.social · 21/01/2025There was a time when one 'switching hub' was usually just two hubs connected together with a two port switch inside it, and vendors and engineers would muddle up the distinction between 'hub', 'switch', 'switching hub', 'dual speed hub' etc. until everything became more 'switch' than 'hub' 000
