It is strange to contemplate the relationship Shakespeare has with scholarship. Scholarship about media dances around the plays of Shakespeare as if it was the basis of thought. It can seem that the teaching Shakespeare's is/was more about sustaining the language of scholarship.

The message of any medium is not to change the behaviour, rather it exaggerates the inclinations humanity already had. The development of LLMs did not change who we are, rather exaggerated our own qualities. What qualities that technology and it's fetishization reveals is interpretation.

AI art always feels like a present that someone, who doesn't care about you, bought from the gas station on the way to your birthday. Like thanks I would prefer nothing

One of the unsaid issues of ai is how easily it has normalized the refusal or avoidance of paying particular forms of work. Don't get me wrong, this was an issue before, but it has gotten worse. Now we are seeing people say "well I don't have to pay the artist if I can just download it"

Stagnation and inflexibility are sources of the such insidious malignancy. The longer you adhere to the status quo the more deviation looks like blasphemy, until eventually life becomes a performance of that past in a world that can no longer accommodate its existence.

In tech monarchism as soon as an algorithm identifies you as something, you become that thing. The nuances of your existence do not matter

The poor state of our economy is largely by choice. Everyday people may not have chosen it, but someone did choose it.

A danger of Canada offload the cost of its society is when the entities we inevitably become reliant on them. Canada, like many other areas, offloaded the cost of its entertainment onto America. Most of our media is dominated by America and that comes at the expense of Canadian artist.

One of the things I always hear from experience designers is that AI will only hurt "bad" designers. As if we did not once exist as bad designers. As if "bad" design does not actively influence how and what we make. as if "bad" design doesn't also contribute to the development of the design field.

I think what the prevalence of LLM has shown is that people are more patient with a machines mistakes than they are with a persons mistakes. I think that is illustrative of a central component of our current struggle.

Linkedin is the most interesting place. Like a place of collective performitivity where everyone pretends that everything is fine. Then, every worker starts to walk a line where the hint and post to the dire state of our labour experience, but never truly gets close enough to authenticity.

Living in Alberta, it always feels like the material conditions of our lives are made secondary to the performance of our politics. Like you can't find a job, but our premier is will to bitch publicly about not having a pipeline. Can afford a house. Well we yelled at Ottawa for you

An economy that is defined by a devorcing of actual contribution from financial success and incompetent trillionares whose business is propped up with private and public subsidies is proof that the problem was never that we can't afford it, it is that only the rich deserve what we can afford.

The conflating of personal tast with quality is an issues of power structure. People who are less adjacent to power, tend to understand that their personal taste is not a measure of quality. Individuals with power, or who think they have power, will believe their taste is a measure of quality.

In representational art and realism, substance is secondary to detail. Detail is conflated with meaning and depth. Art becomes secondary to the representation.
