dunno if this is the best approach, but ive been doing a rough pencil sketch for brainstorming, then a cleaner sketch, and then a graphite transfer to watercolor paper

In case the watercolor doesn't go as planned, uncolored versions of #Boktober2026 Day 1 - Hybrid Bok

More watercolor pencil practice... waiting for it to dry between colors is the hardest part...

tried a new shop that opened hoping they'd have a broom set, but instead i found stuff my mom used long ago and hasn't been able to find for a while so i guess that's a decent trade off

specialty wash towel and vinyl cleaning gloves

especially if you end up liking the meal but it only lasts for like... 2 servings... i like cooking in bulk so that i don't gotta keep coming up with ideas (but i guess not a great idea when experimenting hrm)

wow... all that packaging to make your own korea taco fusion? i wonder if there's an option to just get the basic ingredients instead of everything you probably already have

kodedile 🐊 ワニノコード @kodedile.bsky.social · 25/09/2026

oh my bad i got it mixed up with freshly lol (which i def don't recommend)

iiinteresting... does it feel like pouring mystery ingredients into a witch's brew? back when I tried it (2019?) they didn't have ingredient kits, just heat&eat meals insulated by huge bags of what looked like shredded jeans

kodedile 🐊 ワニノコード @kodedile.bsky.social · 21/09/2026

the recipe i based this on didn't bake it at all so i suppose that step is optional, but it felt too wet and i didn't trust eating food that came from a can without cooking it...

forgot that i added an unmeasured amount of cinnamon... really just dumped in whatever felt right... maybe 1 Tbsp?

Pasta Bites Couscous (Left) Cook in pasta sauce and scoop into toasted phyllo cups just before serving Sweet Couscous (Right) from Morocco(?) but basically like oatmeal that isn't mushy. Contains raisins, nuts, sliced almonds, cinnamon, honey, almond milk, and topped with apple slices

They seemed to come out much better this time around! So I guess the knot method is the best overall. Good to know for next year lol

Next dish to try: Couscous! Pulled up an old recipe for sausage pasta bites from Publix lol (subtracting the sausage of course) but also gonna try making cinnamon-sugar couscous with nuts and raisins

Then I let 12 more thaw for just 5 hours instead of overnight, and tried making knots... so far so good. Let's hope it retains its form through tomorrow morning's baking!

Three challahs thawed only for five hours, stretched and tied into knots

Tried tweaking the method today, but of the 12 I prepped, only 3 were presentable 😔

Process of challah re-shaping from overnight thaw, then stretched long, then curled into a spiral round

Thinking for latkes it might be better to do a combination of shredded and flaked potatoes? Or at least sub potato starch for flour. Kinda prefer having them slightly more cake-like, while keeping some texture on the edges 🤔

kodedile 🐊 ワニノコード @kodedile.bsky.social · 10/09/2026

Gonna try making some semi-celebratory food. Yesterday I made lentil soup with matzo balls, and today I'm gonna prep some latkes (still miss the ones from my elementary school friend's mom) Also bought one of each of the products they sent us to sell for this weekend alone... honey cookies are 💯

kodedile 🐊 ワニノコード @kodedile.bsky.social · 10/09/2026

Tried a different approach than in previous years, turning a 5-10 minute process into a 30 second process... Quality is pretty similar, but less round. These round challah came out more like hearts and brains lol

Tried teaching myself color theory and messed up a lot! (but also learning) Mixing colors before adding water better for cohesive color, while layering dry and wet effectively paints over the previous color. Putting a wet brush directly over the pencil helps if i forget to premix...

TNFa is one of the most fun demo experiences I've had recently, it always amazes me when someone crafts something so genuinely fun and accessible in a constrained retro genre It's full of such amazing and beautifully creative gore ❤️ and I'm already looking forward to the soundtrack ✨
