Ember is amazing, but wow, puppies are hard work! She goes from an angel to a demon who wants to nip at everything in the blink of an eye. She really is so sweet, though. The challenging times are worth it to be able to hold and cuddle her.

Well, say hello to E! (Rest of the name pending.) She is a 9-week-old lab pit mix. I wasn't sure I wanted another brindle, but as she came bounding into our arms, we knew she was coming home with us.

Well, it looks like our union will go on strike next week if we can't settle the contract by then. A few years ago, it came down to the day before. I'm really hoping we don't have to, but I'll do it if we have to, to make sure we get a fair contract. We need more unions in this country.

We hiked Fushimi Inari at night. It was really pretty, and we even saw some wild boars.

Yakiniku for dinner was so good! I stuffed myself full of delicious beef and some sake. The sake was okay compared to others I've had on this trip, but they overflowed it into this box. That beef sushi was to die for. My tummy is full, and I'm a happy bolf.

We visited several shrines this morning, including a small one we just stumbled upon near our hotel. It was quiet and really beautiful. We then hit up Kiyomizu-dera, which has been my favorite so far. The grounds were lovely.

The Hakone Open Air Museum was really neat. It was cool to see so many Picasso ceramics and some of his other art.

Sitting in a serene Japanese garden with koi swimming around us, watching a gray haron hunt (it caught 2 fish), has to be up there with one of the most magical moments of my life.

Our ryokan was something special. We got a room connected to the gardens and we got to walk around them in our yukata. The onsen was scolding hot, but very relaxing.

Yesterday was Tokyo DisneySea. It was a really neat park, and it was interesting to experience the rides all in Japanese. The Peter Pan ride was freaking adorable! Unfortunately, it felt like the hottest and muggiest day so far, so that was rough. Still a great day.
