These small cups have served for more tests than I can count. This one is one of the few I was genuinely happy with. When the glaze isn't perfect, but the imperfections don't look like mistakes... #HandmadeCeramics #GlazeTesting #OriginalGlaze #StudioPottery #CeramicCup

One of my latest vases, in Sea Drift. I was reluctant to leave the interior unglazed at first, but I think I'm liking it more and more... #HandmadeCeramics #OriginalGlaze #StudioPottery #WheelThrown #CeramicVase

Sometimes, trial pieces work out better than expected. This one was a test for a newly formulated glaze, applied with a brush, which is something I don't usually do. And it worked out quite nicely. #HandmadeCeramics #OriginalGlaze #GlazeTesting #StudioPottery #CeramicCup

My very first pot! Funny how the craft is called pottery, yet I hadn't actually made a single pot before this one. Only cups, vases, plates... #HandmadeCeramics #StonewareClay #WheelThrown #StudioPottery #CeramicPot

This is Night Dust, another of my own formulated glazes. It's an opaque, matte black that breaks into golden, earthy tones in places. I'm still learning how to control that reaction. Sometimes I absolutely love the result, sometimes I hate it. What do you think? #HandmadeCeramics

If my base is heavy, that probably means I don't know how to throw properly... But then again, tall vases with a narrow foot... You want the base slightly heavier, or the whole thing feels like it's one gust of wind (or one curious cat) away from crashing down. Balance is tricky to get right.

I've been revisiting some of my very first cup designs, this time with a straighter shape. I threw and trimmed them mostly by feel, without much measuring, which made for a set of cups that are similar but never quite identical. #WheelThrown #StudioPottery #PotteryProcess #CeramicCups

This is the first plate I'm sharing here. It took me quite a while to figure out a small plate design (diameter about 15cm) I liked and that felt right. I tried quite a few different methods until I found one where I actually enjoy not only the process but the result. #HandmadeCeramics #Glaze

This must have been my first vessel where I had to stand up to be able to throw it and reach all the way to the bottom. #WheelThrown #StudioPottery #PotteryProcess

This might be the cleanest rim I've ever achieved. "Sea Drift" is another of my own formulated glazes, and its effects are even more beautiful when applied thick, as is the case here. But that comes with drips, something I really don't like the look of in ceramics... #HandmadeCeramics #glaze

This is my favorite clay and glaze combo right now, and one of the few designs I'm genuinely happy with, as some of you may already know. The light chamotte in this clay gives it a texture on the exterior that I really love. #HandmadeCeramics #StonewareClay #OriginalGlaze #WheelThrown #TeaCup

Here's Sea Drift, another one of my own formulated glazes. This one used to be one of my favorite vases. Used to, because I tried firing it a second time, which didn't end up going well. It's often quite a gamble trying new things on pieces I like, but I try to never settle for "good enough."

This is an appreciation post for my parents, who have to deal with boxes like these lying around in their garage, where my kiln lives. I'm more confident leaving stuff like this on the floor of their garage than properly arranged on my own shelves. That's how clumsy I am, and how careful they are.

This is a rare occurrence: a piece I'm genuinely happy with, even proud of. I think it's that rare mix of enjoying the process, hitting zero frustration along the way, and probably not having too high expectations, since this bowl was more of an experiment. #WheelThrown #pottery #MixedClay

Sunbathing before the kiln. Sometimes I like to make sure certain pieces are fully "bone dry" before firing, and the easiest way is often to just let them bask in the sun for a while. #StudioPottery #HandmadeCeramics #WheelThrown #PotteryProcess #CeramicArt

The very first piece I'm sharing with one of my own formulated glazes. Funny thing is, I may have abandoned this one after the very first test batch if @alizee (who, by the way, spent hours mixing glazes with me, thank you <3) hadn't pointed out it was her favorite. #OriginalGlaze #Pottery

A few days ago, I found some recycled clay lying in a bag. Not really sure where it's from, but I split it in four and decided to just have fun. It's been a long time since I enjoyed throwing this much. #WheelThrown #StudioPottery #RecycledClay #HandmadeCeramics #PotteryLife

My love for round vessels is quite intense. This one was probably my favorite piece from my second ever firing, but sadly the glazing wasn't really convincing. And you're seeing the good side, obviously. #StudioPottery #WheelThrown #HandmadeCeramics #CeramicVase #PotteryLove

Quite an effective trimming day. Freshly thrown, trimmed, and stamped (finally used this big stamp!), big pots are ready. #StudioPottery #WheelThrown #HandmadeCeramics #PotteryProcess #ClayWork

While digging through old glaze tests looking for formulas worth revisiting, I thought I might share with you some of the most fun, weird, or spectacular results from my very first batch formulated around last Christmas. #GlazeTesting #CeramicGlaze #Ceramic
