Was just looking up some 2024 playoff stuff because that was the Oilers at their "best" the line of Ryan McLeod-Leon Draisaitl-Corey Perry was the 7th most toi line used. in 6 games they got 36:27 5v5. 44.47 xGF%. But the amount of lines used is a mess in that run.

@dimfilipovic.bsky.social since you were curious about Nurse and deflecting pucks into the Oilers net here is what Staples came up with in his tracking.

Sadly I think Knoblauch hasn't updated his strategies for the modern NHL. We all see this with the wild amount of point shots and button hooks to pass to the point.

I don't think one of these point shots had a screen or forwards driving the net. This has plagued the Oilers offensively all season.

This condition maybe holding up the Oilers tossing in a 2027 in a trade. This season could easily result in a top 12 spot.

Conditions on the 1st round pick the Oilers traded for Walman are top 12 protected. So they can transfer the pick to a 1st in 2027.

I do think just saying 0.889 sv% in the playoffs doesn't tell the story. Shots on goal are very different in the modern NHL that shot isn't coming off the stick if it isn't from a good area anymore. Should they be looking to upgrade goaltending sure. But I think some of you are way too focused on it
