# Arts at the Armory Spotlight Series Presents Clap Your Hands Say Yeah – Piano & Voice **Fri. Oct. 09, 2026 at 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm** #### Experience the unmistakable voice and songwriting of Alec Ounsworth in an intimate, piano-driven reimagining of his indie rock catalog. Get tickets now! Arts at the Armory welcomes Alec Ounsworth—best known as the founder of Clap Your Hands Say Yeah—to the Spotlight Stage on October 9, 2026. Long recognized for his guitar-led performances, Ounsworth is now exploring a more pared-down approach at the piano—bringing a new level of intimacy and emotional clarity to songs that helped define the early 2000s indie scene. As the driving force behind Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Ounsworth built a devoted following through a fiercely independent, direct-to-fan approach in the early days of music blogging and MySpace. That commitment to artistic autonomy earned admiration from artists like David Byrne and David Bowie. Following a run of intimate European shows, this performance offers a rare opportunity to hear Ounsworth’s work reimagined—up close and in a new light. _“The holistic craftsmanship of Ounsworth’s musicality is impressive.”_ – Allmusic _“…the sort of live-wire creativity that keeps music careers going longer than early skeptics could have imagined.”_ – NPR Doors open at 7:00 PM Show begins at 8:00 PM – Jessye DeSilva to open! * * * _Arts at the Armory serves delicious locally sourced food and drink at the Performance Hall bar when doors open (usually one hour before the show). Please arrive early to enjoy dinner and drinks before the event. The full menu can be viewedHERE. One person was injured in a shooting near Russell Field in North Cambridge on Tuesday afternoon, according to Cambridge police. Cambridge Emergency Communications received multiple 911 calls reporting gunshots in the area at approximately 3:20 p.m. “Upon arrival responders located one victim suffering from related injuries,” police wrote. ShotSpotter was not a factor in response to the shooting, according to a Cambridge police spokesman, who said that North Cambridge is well outside the coverage radius of the ShotSpotter system. The victim was transported by emergency medical services to a local hospital. Their condition was not immediately known, police said. Cambridge police and regional law enforcement partners remained at the scene Tuesday afternoon investigating the circumstances of the shooting. Police are asking anyone with information to contact Cambridge Police detectives at 617-349-3300. _This story was updated to include information about whether ShotSpotter was engaged in this incident._ * * * ## Support our work As a nonprofit, community-based independent publication, we rely on contributions from readers like you to fund our journalism. ### Like this: Like Loading… ### _Related Stories_ ## A stronger Please consider making a financial contribution to maintain, expand and improve **Cambridge Day**. Communities thrive when we get to know and support our neighbors. We love larger city-wide events like HONK! and Porchfest, but we also want to foster regular neighborhood events. From yard sales to kickball tournaments to pizza parties, the DSNC aims to bring neighbors together.
