I missed last night's game so I was catching up with the highlight reel & I had no idea Erik Haula was gonna be in town! Perfect timing I suppose 😸

Awesome! Dansk is one I think about a lot. He never quite made it in the big leagues, but he'll forever have a place in the hearts of Vegas fans. First ever franchise shutout! Love all those guys!

TIL that Gage Quinney, the only Las Vegas native to ever play in the NHL, left Vegas in 2025 to play for the Shanghai Dragons under Gerard Gallant. Life is crazy.

Guys, I miss Vegas so bad! D.C. is a great place... to visit. But I wake up every morning wishing I was back home again.

I love that they're bringing back some of the og misfits for VGK's 10th season celebrations! Who are you hoping to see come back to Vegas?

I keep seeing this sweet Mustang Dark Horse in the parking garage. Yesterday I saw that they decided to park next to me so I snapped a pic of the two beauties together. I need to find out who they are & become friends so I can get them to give me a ride! 😄

Here's your NHL trivia for the day. Marty Brodeur holds the record for most goalie goals with 3. BUT only one of those was from a shot on goal. There's only one goal tender to be credited with more than one goal from actual shots taken, & that's Ron Hextall with 2.

In 1985, Pistol would become the first player to have their number retired by the Utah Jazz. The next would be Adrian Dantley, followed many years later by John Stockton, Karl "Mailman" Malone, Jeff Hornacek, Mark Eaton, & Darrell "Dr. Dunkenstein" Griffith (aka "Golden Griff").

Pete responded years later by saying, "I like Pat a lot. You know, everyone has an opinion of people. I'd look [at the stats sheets] & the man I'm playing had 10 or 12 points & I'd have 45 or 50 & I'd say, you know, 'Who's defending who?'"

In 1978 Pat Riley, working as a broadcaster before his coaching days, said of Pistol, "Maravich is the most overrated superstar who ever came down the pipe," & called his defensive game "soft".

Although Caitlyn Clark recently broke his NCAA scoring record, it took her more games & a 3-point line to do it. In Pistol's day, freshmen were barred from playing varsity & there was no 3-point line. Given these, Pistol's record almost certainly would've remained essentially forever out of reach.

More Pistol factoids. After he died unexpectedly in 1988, the Utah Jazz wore a badge in his honor on their jerseys for the rest of the season.

The Pistol ended up signing with the Hawks for $380K ($3.3 million today) per year making him the highest paid player in NBA history. For comparison, Wilt Chamberlain & Kareem Abdul-Jabbar were each making ~$250K at the time.

Not only was he drafted 1st overall by the Carolina Cougars of the ABA & 3rd overall by the Atlanta Hawks of the NBA, but he was also offered a cool $1 million ($8.63 million today) to play for the Harlem Globetrotters as the first white Globetrotter. 😳

"Pistol" Pete Maravich has been my favorite NBA player of all time for as long as I can remember. So I'm a bit embarrassed to say that until now I had no idea that...

"If you could change one rule in the NHL..." My 2 biggest pet peeves are the embellishment rule & the offside challenge. But if I had to pick one, it'd be the latter. The spirit of the law is to prevent camping in the o-zone. I'm okay with a missed call by an inch or two.

The eastern time zone is killing me. Most Knights games played in the west don't start until after 10 pm here. 😭

A Knight in Caps Country @knighttimelv.bsky.social · 02/10/2026

Okay I'm slow. The whole thing was actually a hype fest, disguised as a practice, to get fans excited for the season. It makes sense now 😄

Now they're pitting the rookies against each other in a... sing & dance competition. What even am I watching? 😂

I'm at a Washington Wizards open practice. Except they're not actually practicing. Right now they're holding a 3-point shooting contest. 😄

I've even heard that he now gives verbal warning to players that he's incoming before a hit. And he's not as hated as we might imagine. From Josh Anderson: "I think we're old enough & mature enough we can go out & grab a beer anytime."

We all experience change & growth as we age, even Tom Wilson. I've been watching him & I genuinely feel like he's been much more respectable the last few years. But I wouldn't expect this level of gentlemanliness during the regular season 😏

There's a local beggar that visits me every now & then. He shows up on my balcony & starts cawing at my window until I come out with food. 😄

They also recommended $6K in additional work. $4K of which I'll do myself. 😊 Tbh I hate working on my car, but having just a little bit of automotive know-how has saved me so much money over the years.

Dealer's had my car a week & finally diagnosed it. I feel dumb because I knew this was a possibility & I originally planned to have my electrical system checked but just didn't... It's the battery, not the transmission thank goodness!

110

A Knight in Caps Country @knighttimelv.bsky.social · 01/09/2026

At least I'll get a brand new transmission out of it... that hopefully will last longer than the one I've got 🤞🏼

Bad news: Just 4 months out of factory warranty & that's when the Vette's transmission decided to die on me 😭 The good news: The transmission is a known weak point on these cars & that's why I bought an extended warranty with it 😊

Welp, we thought living on the top floor of a highrise would be so great! Then a month ago, we had power outages (so the elevators weren't working) two days in a row, lasting more than 24 hours. And now today, at 4 am, the fire alarms falsely went off (but only on our floor). 🫩

Fun factoid: The upcoming 2026-27 NHL season will be the last of that great philosopher Ilya Bryzgalov's "humongous big" (like the universe) contract in which he'll be paid $1.64 million by the Philadelphia Flyers.
