Sometimes I think about how every severe storm caused by climate change kills or damages trees.Trees absorb carbon dioxide to mitigate emissions.Trees provide shade to reduce temperatures around them. This tree has been battered by several storms over the years and is half the 🌳 it used to be.

Curious what the metrics were for a successful deployment of AI scribe tools to Ontario doctors because these seem really bad globalnews.ca/news/1184434...
The review found:

45 per cent AI Scribe systems fabricated information and made suggestions to patients’ treatment plans, such as referring us the patient for therapy or ordering blood tests, even though these steps were not mentioned in the simulated recordings
60 per cent of the AI Scribe systems captured a different drug than what was prescribed by the doctor
85 per cent of AI Scribe systems missed key details about the patients’ mental health issues in at least one of the two tests, even though this was mentioned in the simulated recordings

So much joy to volunteer backstage at Orpheus Musical Theatre’s production of Jesus Christ superstar. Really looking forward to working on costumes for Singin’ in the Rain. The costume designer showed me her sketches today and they are 🔥

I love my library, love the librarians! Rachel Reid’s Heated Rivalry and other books all have long waiting lists. So the librarian made a display of other books you might want to check out.

I volunteered to pick grapes with Hidden Harvest today. Half the harvest goes to the volunteers, half to local community organizations who help people who are food insecure.

I was in a local grocery store last night and noticed the baby formula is in a locked cabinet. I Seems really concerning that it is so expensive. People are just trying to feed their babies and survive.

Also interesting that streetcars were ripped up by a car supplier consortium so people couldn’t go back to streetcars when they realized cars just led to more congestion and slower commutes.

In September, I started volunteering at the Caldwell family centre food bank in September. Unloading and sorting food, stocking shelves and serving clients. Here is a part of their recent newsletter.
Thank you so much for being part of our caring community!

Small charities like the Caldwell Family Centre are under immense financial pressure, with rising need and reduced government support colliding to create the perfect storm.

We have been registering an average of 200 new households every month at our foodbank - those are our neighbours who have exhausted other avenues of support and arrive on our doorstep hungry and humbled. We are also cooking breakfast and lunch Monday through Friday for between 4-500 people.

Food is a connector - to better health, friends, resources, skills development, employment and community programming - and therefore plays an integral role in poverty reduction. We are committed to continuing to create spaces that allow community to grow, inspire new approaches and encourage local leadership.

Thank you for walking with us on this journey. We couldn't do it without you!

Warmly,

Eugene Williams, Executive Director, Caldwell Family Centre

I watched the committee hearing on Bill 212 and there were multiple people who spoke about the death of loved ones or how they had endured lifelong injuries because they had been hit by cars while cycling. Unbelievably cruel response by the government.

Today I went to see a musical. At intermission I went to a rally for refugees and met up with a friend there. After the rally I went back to see the rest of the musical.Very encouraged by all the people who came to show their support for welcoming newcomers to the city. It was the best day.

Hello bluesky! I worked in the tech industry for 30 years before being impacted by a layoff. I’m taking some time to volunteer in Ottawa with OCISO (career mentor), Orpheus musical theatre (sewist) and the Caldwell family centre food bank. I’m a cyclist, avid reader and cat herder.
