A bit of a grab bag of interests. Art, comics, politics, movies. I promise nothing, but that's also what I charge.

Just a normal woman with a French bob looking at us with a bit of bemusement or disdain depending on your mood. I'm torn between liking this one and being annoyed by it, and I'm not sure why.
A woman with a medium brown French bob and bangs looks at you with one eyebrow raised and one lowered. Her hands rest on her hips, and she seems to be wondering why she's giving you any attention at all.

Giving in to my clear appreciation of goth women, here's this weeks' work -- A contemporary twist on Cassandra De Rolo from The Legend of Vox Machina.
Cassandra DeRolo looks at you over her right shoulder. She has short black hair with a white tuft at about the center front, and blue-grey eyes (I think). She's wearing a leather and cloth top with rose patterns on the sleeves and a soft lacey midriff that falls short of reaching her leather pants. There are a lot of chains and buckles involved in this look, and her family crest is emblazoned on the back of her top.

This week's project started out a an experiment in drawing a random brunette bookworm with a Dark Academia aesthetic, but I think I would up drawing the main character from the "Emily Wilde" series of books.
A woman with long brown hair looks at you through golden glasses. She wears dark earthen tones in the form of a cream blouse, a sweater vest, and a skirt. She's holding an old book in both of her hands as she quietly judges whether you're worth the interruption you caused.

This week's project is a simple Kate Bishop since it's been a while. I'm beginning to think pictures like this are my base -- I enjoy trying new things and techniques, but it's simple ones like this that every once in a while let me think I'm actually fairly decent at this art thing.
A young woman with long black hair gathers it all up behind her head. She's wearing a light haltertop, a bullseyes necklace and earrings that look like stylistic arrows.

Sometimes you just want to draw a pink-haired woman in a mesh top. So you do. (It's a fun challenge to figure out how to get the effect right in areas that don't have skin behind them but would have a second layer of mesh to see through.)
A young woman with long, layered bubble-gum pink hair winks at you as she stands with her arms crossed. She wears a haltertop underneath a mesh top, giving a view of tattoos that might otherwise be hidden.

Inspired by the recent Summer weather (though not today's), here's my two elven ladies Hazel and Zellynda on a nice day to be outside (again, unlike today). I just felt like drawing some breezy outfits, and it's always fun to make sure they keep their respective warm/cool color schemes.
Two Elven women pose for a picture in a park on a nice summer day. Hazel stands on the left, with light brown eyes and short dark brown hair. She has a single-strapped halter top and shorts on, while Zellynda, with her long white hair gathered in a casual bun, wears and flowy flower-print top pairs with a long skirt.

This week's project is the protagonist of the Nevernight Chronicles, Mia Corvere. Obviously I opted for a more modern look than her native Renaissance setting, but it's still her (at least in my mind).
A young woman stands looking to her left. A dark jacket is slung down behind her around her elbows, and she's wearing dark leather pants and a light t-shirt with a crow on it. Her long, dark hair falls around her shoulders, and a lit cigarillo hangs between the fingers of her left hand.

Last week's 100+ temps inspired me to dig up an old roller skating reference so I could show Caitlin Snow (aka 'Frost' in DC Comics) trying to keep cool skating along Venice Beach. I had planned on having her leave an ice trail behind, but I just couldn't get it to work out.
A very pale young woman with short, frosty hair rollerskates along Venice Beach, enjoying a cherry popsicle and leaving a snowy drift behind her as she does.

There was a run of “Josie and the Pussycats” ten or so years ago that I really enjoyed, mostly because of Audrey Mok's fantastic artwork. This drawing is my ode to that era of J&tP, based in no small part on Audrey's designs for Melody, Josie, and Valerie.
Melody, Josie, and Valerie stand against a stucco wall with the “Josie and the Pussycats” logo on it. All are wearing their trademark cat ears and tops that are marked by the usual jaguar spots. I would describe their clothes in more detail, but I honestly don't remember what colors I chose...

Once again I decided to confront my artistic arch-nemesis, deep shadows and Caucasian skin tones. And one of the best ways to create that situation is by giving a young woman a hat on a sunny day outdoors. So here's Purple-Haired Girl taking a walk on a pleasant day.
A woman with long purple hair looks at you. She's standing outside on a sunny day, with a straw hat casting shadows over her face. She's wearing a light top and jeans, with a big belt and a matching cloth shoulderbag. I honestly forget what most of the colors I used here are. I'm sorry.

Medusa's been on my “to do” list for a while, but I finally found a reference pose (and hairstyle inspiration) that pushed me to pull the trigger on her.
Medusa, with her mane of snakes piled into a high, casual bun, is pulling off her sunglasses and looking to her right. She's wearing a short, classical top that mimics the style of a light skirt, jeans, and is carrying a fairly large handbag.

Another character that was suggested by an Instagram follower was Rachel Grey, the daughter of Scott Summers and Jean Grey. Rachel's been among my favorite characters since the early days of 'Excalibur' 35-40 years ago, so it wasn't exactly a big ask.
A young woman with short red hair and beautiful green eyes winks at you with a wry smirk. She's wearing a “Cat's Laughing” t-shirt, a leather jacket with spiked shoulders, and a bisexual pride pin. One of the three earring in her right ear is a Phoenix symbol to represent her mother, while the ruby red shades atop her head represent her father.

This week's project was Battle Angel: Alita with two goals – have a bit more of an action oriented pose than I usually do, but also have her lit from below, rather than above like I usually do.
Alita, dressed in a t-shirt, jacket, jeans and work boots, leaps from a tall building in the night. Her short-ish dark hair flies behind her in the resulting wind, and her expression is (hopefully) one of determination.

It's rare that I read a fantasy story or play a fantasy-type video game without wondering what the setting might look like a few hundred years later. That's what inspired this week's drawing of Morrigan and Leliana from Dragon Age with a modern vibe and ready for a night out on the town.
Morrigan wears her hair loose, with a cropped black jacket, corset, short skirt and thigh-high boots. Leliana has her red hair cut short, wearing a cropped cream motojacket, cami top, and short skirt.

Power Girl has had a lot of 'real' names over her years in DC Comics, so here, I'm just going to go with Power Girl. Sometimes when I want to draw a character, the first few poses just don't work out, but the need to draw them remains.
A beautiful woman with short, blonde hair and striking blue eyes is shown from the waist up, wearing a flowery top that shows off her muscular shoulders and arms.

One @jonathanlovesx-men.bsky.social suggested I give Gabby Kinney, aka “Honeybadger” or “Scout” a try, so here's the thirteen-year-old ray of sunshine who has an incredible healing factor and a set of knives in her feet and hands. I think I may have given her the best hair I've ever drawn, too.
A young woman sits on a ledge, looking down at you. One sneaker-clad foot is stretched out toward you, a sharp claw piercing its toes to point upward. She has long, dark hair, a casual tee and jacket, and loose-fitting pants along with a pair of shades.

This week's drawing is Bernie, the Grim Reaper and leader of a team of undead warriors who fight off primordial bad guys in “Death Vigil.” Nightwish happens to be one of the bands she digs (I got the t-shirt logo from their artwork; I didn't do it myself).
An incredibly pale woman gathers her long, white hair back into a ponytail as she looks at you. She's wearing a 'Nightwish' tanktop and black pants.

Jaylah from “Star Trek: Beyond” has been on my 'To Draw' list for years, but I never felt confident in tackling her until, if it isn't obvious, fairly recently. But here we are, and here she is after I spent about an hour recreating the USS Franklin emblem for her shirt.
I'm going to be honest – I have no idea what colors are involved in any of this. If you've seen Star Trek: Beyond, picture Jaylah leaning up against a wall wearing a USS Franklin off-the-shoulder t-shirt and brownish (I think?) pants. She has her hair in a sleek ponytail that flows down in front of her right shoulder.

I've been drawing a lot of sorceresses lately, it seems. Here we have my rendition of Triss Merigold from the Witcher books, games, and TV show, and maybe it's just me, but I think she's giving Coachella vibes.
It's a waist-up drawing of Triss Merigold wearing a light green haltertop that has a moss green wrap just beneath her breasts clasped with a golden circle. She has on tan shorts as well, with a flowery belt. A golden jeweled arm wrap in on her right upper arm, her hair is half-pulled up, falling down her back in thick, riotous curls while short, blunt bangs tease her cornflower blue eyes.

Some art for you on what's been a really weird day as far as the highs and lows of humanity go -– A casual Felicia Hardy, aka Black Cat from Spider-Man comics and video games. Nothing too special about this one; I just felt like drawing the pose and she came to mind as someone I haven't drawn before
A woman with bright green eyes and short, sideswept platinum blonde hair stands in profile as she looks at you with a slight smirk. She's wearing a black leather jacket with fluffy white fur along its collar and cuffs, a low-cut pink shirt, and black jeans.

Finally took a crack at drawing Go-Go Tomago and Honey Lemon from the Disney version of “Big Hero 6.” Thanks go to my cousin Molly for helping with the Japanese on Go-Go's shirt.
Two women ae walking down a college hallway toward you. One has short, dark hair with streaks of blue or purple, dark eyes, and is wearing a cropped black jacket and black leather pants. The other is tall and willowy, with long blonde hair in a casual braid and light eyes and glasses. She's wearing a yellowish sweater over her blouse, and a lavender miniskirt.

Just a casual EDI, the robotic teammate from the Mass Effect video games. I started this last November and stopped because I hated it, but after taking another look recently I decided to finish her up. I cheated a little by giving her full eyebrows, but she didn't look right without them.
A robotic woman is taking a selfie with her phone. She's wearing denim jeans and a 'Small Wonder' t-shirt.

Yet another magic user – this time it's Myrna, a necromancer and “Keeper of the Seals” in Dragon Age: The Veilguard. Given her Necromancy and residency in Necropolis Halls, I tried to keep a darker palette for her without going with the typical black/white/gold combination.
Myrna leans lightly against the corner formed by two walls. She wears a dark plum evening gown that fades from light near her neck to dark around her ankles, with starlight sparkles throughout. Her left leg is bent, showing off its length through an elegant slit. Her bangs are gently parted to the side, while her sleek ponytail is pulled forward to fall in front of her right shoulder.

Continuing on a Sorceress theme, here's a contemporary Claudia from The Dragon Prince/The Dragon King. She's gone through quite a change in appearance since her early days, which is something I always love seeing.
Claudia stands facing you, her feet at shoulders' width and her hands tugging down on the lapels of her black jacket. She's also wearing a gray vest over a sheer black top, as well as a plaid black and grey skirt with a magic-script belt. A knee-high boot is worn on her right leg, while the lower half of her left leg is replaced with a driftwood construct. Her short hair is mostly white, with a black swath hanging low over the right side of her face, somewhat obscuring the gray half-mask she wears.

Okay, so this one is definitely a bit more colorful than my usual stuff, but for good reason – This is Alison Blaire, aka. Dazzler, whose superpower is the ability to turn sound into light (and lasers). I really struggled with this one and came close to giving up four or five times.
Alison Blaire is singing into a microphone, with rings of rainbow light pulsing in front of stage lights behind her. Her long, layered blonde hair falls wildly around her shoulders and down her back, and two silver armbands sparkle in the light.

This week's drawing is a contemporary-look Doric, the druidic tiefling from “Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves,” which is a fantastic, fun movie you should check out if you already haven't.
Doric is a redheaded tiefling with pale skin and short, backswept horns. A long tail lilts behind her, and she's dressed in a lopsided Greenpeace top and blue jeans, with leather boots.

This year's Valentines couple is a contemporary version of Evangelina Sage and Trystan Maverine (aka The Villain) from the “Assistant to the Villain” series by Hannah Nicole Maehrer.
Evangelina Sage, a young woman with long, dark brown hair and bright blue eyes, wears a sage green corset dress. She's leaning back against Trystan, a tall, brooding young man with dark eyes and hair who makes a habit of wearing black as much as possible. He's scowling, but has his right arm wrapped around her anyway, with his hand resting lighting on her stomach.

This week's post – Tabitha Smith, aka Boom Boom, who could make tiny bombs out of nothing during her stints on the X-Men, New Mutants, and, my personal favorite, the X-Terminators, among a few other teams as well. This look was inspired by her X-Terminators run. #xmen
Tabitha Smith stands with her left hand behind her back and her right hand holding up a small, explosive spark as she smirks at you. She has light blue eyes and long, wavy blonde hair that she wears with a slight side parting. She's wearing an off the shoulder top that has a red and white heart pattern on it, flared white pants, and pink go-go boots.

Another request that didn't make the official sixfanarts cut is one Ms. Jubilation Lee, aka. Jubilee of the X-Men. Somehow she'd flown under my radar as a possible subject up until now. The lesson I learned with this one is that I'm not great at designing retro t-shirts.
The X-Man Jubilee stands before you. She's wearing a red/pink “West Chester Firework Spectacular '97” t-shirt under a yellow cut-off jacket. She has on jeans with pink and yellow sneakers, and black fingerless gloves. She short, dark hair is parted to the side, and she's wearing her trademark red glasses.

Technically this suggestion was one too many for my #sixfanarts effort, but I liked the character suggestion so I drew her anyway – Elektra Ovirowa, from Cowboy Bebop.
Elektra is walking in your general direction, but looking off to her right and your left. She's wearing a leather jacket and those pants that are kind of like bellbottoms but aren't. She has short, dark hair that's just long enough to get in her eyes, tuck behind her ears, and tease the nape of her neck.

Last but positively not least for the latest round of #sixfanarts, Ciri from The Witcher. I based this version off of her appearance in the video game, though I was aiming for more of a contemporary night out type look. I always get a kick out of drawing her, so I'm glad she was suggested.
Ciri crouches at the base of a brick wall. Her white-blonde hair is worn loose in waves just past her shoulders. She has a loose top on, coupled with tight pants and high boots. Her left arm bears fine line tattoos of a wolf's head and a swallow, while her left-hand knuckles are tattooed with the signs used to cast spells.

Number 5 for the latest round of #sixfanarts, Theresa from the series “Minor Arcana.” I'll be honest and note that I'm not familiar with her at all, but I'm hoping I did her justice.
A woman with longish dark hair leans back against the wall in a 'psychic' t-shirt and loose jeans. She seems tired and done with the world in general. Behind her, spray painted on the wall, seems to be the phrase "fuck ice"

Next up is my latest sixfanarts is Phantazia, aka Eileen Harsaw. I couldn't decide whether to draw her with the glasses or without, so you get both! So here's Eileen, and hopefully you get the Easter egg/joke. I fear I may just be showing my age, though.
Phantazia, a woman with long blonde hair swept forward over both of her shoulders, stands in a casual manner with her hands halfway in her jeans pockets. She's wearing a light purple, sleeveless tee with a picture of Mickey Mouse from Sorcerer's Apprentice on it and purple sunglasses.Phantazia, a woman with long blonde hair swept forward over both of her shoulders, stands in a casual manner with her hands halfway in her jeans pockets. Another round of Six Fanarts via followers on Instagram. First up was Captain Kate Pryde. It isn't my favorite era of Kate's by any means, nor my favorite costume, but I had fun trying to give her a bit of a different look that was recognizable as her captain style. I really like how it turned out.
Captain Kate Pryde strides toward you. She's wearing a cropped version of her captain's jacket, paired with a white halter top and black miniskirt. She has a long red skirt, or sorts, to mimic her usual captain's jacket, and high red boots. Her long brown hair is pulled back into a lively ponytail while short bangs tease her eyes.

The 1997 movie Anastasia has always had a special place in my heart because I took my mom to see it, so I figured I'd give drawing her a try. I wanted to maintain a somewhat simple look for her since that's what she had for most of the movie, but without drawing directly from the movie itself.
Anastasia is wearing a long coat and a thick, comfy shirt with a zipper that reaches about a third of the way down the front. She has dark leather pants and matching boots and handbag.

It's been a while since I drew Vixen, aka Mari Jiwe McCabe, from DC Comics. As I worked on this one, it became pretty evident to me that my crush on 90s era Halle Berry is still holding on strong.
Vixen is wearing a cropped jacket, miniskirt, tights, and matching boots along with a v-neck top with an African pattern on it. I'm sorry this is so short but I honestly have no idea what any of the colors in her outfit are.

The long birthday weekend gave me a chance to do more drawing than usual, so here's another I finished up – Contemporary Shadowheart. I absolutely love her in Baldur's Gate 3, but felt like giving her a bit more modern (and slightly goth?) style.
Shadowheart is posing in a crouched position, wearing a black minidress over a sheer top, combined with black stockings and leather boots. She wears a simple choker, and earrings bearing the symbol of Selune. She wears her hair mostly loose, letting the majority spill around her shoulders and down her back, though some is pulled back to keep it out of her face.

This week's project – A character illustration and icons for Mars on the DnD with dee discord. I put this together in exchange for a generous donation to The Trevor Project, and had a lot of fun doing it. The biggest challenge was making her hair floofy enough.
A four-horned barbarian tiefling looks at you with violence on her mind. Floofy hair curls to her shoulders, with four horns – two of which are broken, springing from the top of her head. She wears light leather armor, which allows her to gather plenty of force when she swings the massive warhammer sitting across the back of her shoulders.

Corrected this week's project to hopefully have platinum blonde hair: Emma Frost, of X-Men fame. As much as I wanted to put Emma in colors other than white, I couldn't bring myself to do it.

This Leloo from ”The Fifth Element” is the result of a reference pose that didn't quite work out – the placement of the reference's hands (clasped beneath her chin) just didn't translate to the drawing. So instead I gave her a chicken to hold. Because everyone knows Leloo loves her chicken.

This week I opted for a slightly more formal than usual Laura Kinney. My original intention was to have a nightclub behind her, but it didn't quite work with how I want to do these backgrounds. So instead we get a convenient brick wall with just the tiniest bit of self-aggrandizing graffiti on it.
Laura Kinney stands in front of a brick wall. She's wearing a midi-dress with a knotted belt, and a black leather jacket has been shrugged off her shoulders to gather around her elbows. She has thick-heeled boots with four buckles on the outer side of each, and the claws on her right hand have been extended.
