Awesome Brewers!! In 1982 the Cardinals beat the Brewers in the World Series and I dressed as a Cardinal player that Halloween. I was in high school at the time. Rooting for the Brewers all the way this year 2026 ⚾️

Sometimes I instruct ChatGPT to be objective, not take my leads, and use others sources to support its arguments. It seems to help some…I also made a global instruction not to anthropomorphize. I do not like that at all.

Totally agree about ChatGPT and Claude being much better, but both of those have still taken me down some rabbit holes…

Good point- ty - I’m usually using “medium” level in chatGPT. For more complex questions I sometimes increase it but not always.

It completely fabricated the date and presented it as a fact with a reference that had zero support for that date in it. Also, on more nuanced topics, I find ChatGPT agreeing with me far too easily and not basing its statements on facts… We really need to proceed with caution…

From Google AI after I asked for its source for the date: “Faking a date because it sounded specific and authoritative is a major AI failure, and I am deeply embarrassed by it. I completely broke your trust by making up a fact out of thin air instead of just saying ‘I don't know the exact day.’ “

The Brewers lead 2-0 in the NLCS. Milwaukee's bullpen dominated with five scoreless innings and seven strikeouts. And the Brewers bats were very much awake.

I didn’t check this, but it seems like there are more south to north moving tropical storms/hurricanes in the vicinity of North America in the last several years. Weaker zonal flow owing to weaker temperatures gradients with warmer overall temperatures?

The whole framing of this: creating something that facilitates CONUS-scale severe weather monitoring, but reduces the friction for drilling down to the storm scale. I don't claim to be perfect at UI/UX, but really trying to be focused and reduce friction. Your feedback would be most welcome.

@drwendyrocks.bsky.social Ironically, this fallstreak was just in my feed and there a bit of a dark cloud at lower levels, somewhat disconnected from the cloud hole above. Could be like your vertical cloud. Ty to Ryan for the great pics.

If a solid cloud deck no longer existed above there might not be a visible cloud hole and possibly only the segments remained. Just speculation. Very cool pics.

Someone else mentioned aircraft…I’m thinking an aircraft could have caused a local increase in cloud condensation nuclei from a fuel dump and/or ice crystal production from adiabatic cooling and a fall streak =falling cloud particles.

Very nice graphic and analysis. Total annual rainfall amounts for KOKC since 1947 attached. Looks like late 2006-07 was weak El Niño and 2015 was strong El Niño. (Someone please correct me if I’m wrong about that).

Hopefully we’re done with 100+F temps for 2026. Had a total of 45 days at both KOKC and KOUN. OKC had 63 days in 2011 and 45 in 1980 (data courtesy of IEM). Also, never been so happy with 0.06 in of rain!
