Good US rural schools have happened. My farm town school had a good education system in the 1970s. I learned calculus and coding. I even played online games in 1975 (nonweb online in 1975!). 1970s Minnesota was way ahead of even rich towns on the coasts when it came to computers MN is Sweden.

I noticed in the Midwest rural farm area I am from it’s not the boomer farmers who are most MAGA. It’s the middle aged white dude non-farmers. . It’s like they are going thru some midlife crisis of regret. “Oh why didn’t I move away from here? Oh well… it’s them Mpls urban libs fault!”

Yup. My farmer grandfather was a leftie. If he saw rural people and farmers supporting right wing billionaires today, he'd puke. My old rural area is mainline protestant where pastors in the same urban churches are protesting ICE in Mpls, so we can't say it's all about religion either

btw, I do personally know some farmers who are very against MAGA. What is weird is that in the same rural area the most right wing MAGAs get zero income from ag, but they think they are supporting farmers and their politics. They are like farmer wannabes

Old farm kid here. A lot of rural trump support has nothing to do with farm economics. Here's what I see there now: weird conspiracy theories, living in a news bubble , intense rural peer pressure, scapegoating others for their self-created personal problems and jealously of those who moved away.

grew up on a farm. my parents struggled to pay crazy health insurance costs 40 yrs ago. ACA saved farmers but now MAGA farmers destroyed the same ACA. 27% are on ACA. 36-40% are on Medicare. Total Socialism for farmers. Crop insurance is also a huge fed subsidy. Then there are crop price subsidies

support blue farmers if you can. These MAGA farmers sold out the country just for themselves and lost. I grew up on a farm and these people are embarrassing. I know blue farmers who were forced into silence the last ten years and they aren't happy with these MAGA farmers either.

Check the local rules close for in person early voting. They vary a lot this year after many changes. Some cities that used to allow in person voting in September have moved that to Oct 16.

caution though, Many Minnesota cities do not allow walk up early voting until Oct 16, which is a drastic reduction from previous years. My city no longer allows walk up early voting in September like it did previously .

15-20 years ago I argued with liberals on all that. I have an ag science background. I pointed out the scientific consensus on GMOs and vaccines and their comeback was "but I read an article by RFKJr" or "I read a blog". Propaganda makes people stubborn on both the left and right.

The older republican whites in my rural very red Minnesota hometown may be less likely to vote without mail-in if they have mobility issues. The younger, very blue Twin Cities voters will appear at the polls in a blizzard on election day if they have to.

Ironically their ancestors in the area likely voted deep blue and didn't trust the wealthy. My farmer grandfather was active in the western MN left wing farmer-labor party
