Day 2 of #31DaysOfHorror 🙌 Today's horror book recommendation 🩸📚: Helpmeet by Naben Ruthnum I'm usually not a body horror kinda gal, but this one was very unique! And it's short. Like, really short.

The librarian in charge of the NYS history collection gave me this old-ass book to repair. Someone must have glued down the frayed parts of the fabric on the spine because I couldn't salvage it. The title was barely legible, anyway. #PubLibs #LibraryLife

A really old blue book sits on top of a desk. The spine is super frayed, and it's impossible to read the title.

The same book from the previous picture, but with the frayed part of the spine removed and replaced with blue fabric vinyl tape.

It's October 1st, so welcome to #31DaysOfHorror - my favorite time of year, because everyone and their mom posts horror recs 🤙 Maybe I'll join the party this year? Can't promise that I'll remember to post every day, though 😅

I recently finished Voyagers by Meg Charlton. Alien abduction plays a big role, but I'd say it's more about friendship, family, and reconnecting after a long silence. A smidge of sci-fi sprinkled in like that small bit of garnish parsley. And it's a debut! 📚💙

Still no Internet at the library 😂 The person who does our ILL is off next week, and we have a 3 day weekend coming up, so the dropbox will be *packed* on Tuesday. So I'm using my phone as a hotspot at my desk so we can at least get caught up with our holds and delivery. #PubLibs #LibraryLife

Still no Internet or phones at the library. We're waiting on Spectrum. We now have 2 carts of returns, and today's ILLs to check in as well. Also can't pull the holds 🤦‍♀️ Fortunately, I have books to repair and YA books I can process. Just can't add the books to the collection. #PubLibs

Found my favorite spine label. The fact that we put cutters in all caps really sends it home. #PubLibs #LibraryLife

I'm at a municipal library, right next to city hall. They *constantly* forget about us. Both buildings got new phones last month, and they forgot to switch us to the new internet provider, so a little after 1PM our phones and Internet went out because the old contract ended. #PubLibs #LibraryLife

I am so excited for the new 4K AD Police. It's gonna look so good.

So the new Ghost in the Shell is absolutely wonderful visually, and I've been enjoying it so far... But sometimes I don't quite understand what's going on 😂 I really need to pick up the manga.

Just hanging out at a 4-H camp. Gonna play a murder mystery later that's set at a summer camp during the 1980's.

Three brown cabins sit along a tree line. There is a gravel path in front of the cabins, and the sky is clear blue.

View of a lake. There is a wooden fence in front of the lake, and pine trees on the opposite shore. The sky is bright blue with a few clouds.

Aside from Optimus Prime and Ironhide in Transformers, Peter Cullen was the Voiceover Promo Guy™ for the popular anime block on Cartoon Network called Toonami. I watched all of these promos when they first aired on television, and they were so captivating.

Finally got around to checking out the new Crunchyroll store. I assumed they were getting rid of manga and other books because they were steadily de-listing volumes, even of popular series. I used to buy a lot of manga from CR because they had decent prices. Oh, well.

I am 100% convinced that at least Campanella is dead because that one kid (assumed to be from the Titanic, and totally dead) has the same glowing dew on him. And Campanella said something about hoping his mother would forgive him for what he'd done. This film is dark 👀

So we're, like, *never* getting those Gundam Blu-rays back, are we? 🫠 That Crunchyroll email really made it sound like they won't carry much for discs or manga anymore, if at all. Do you think they'll have anything shojo related, or will the new store just be battle shonen and Isekai 🙄

Finished A Touch of Jen by Beth Morgan last night. This book took a *turn* - like, had me going, "What the actual fuck 😐" But those are my favorite kinds of books. The plot is not even remotely the same, but the characters instantly gave off "Sad Janet" and "Nobody, Somebody, Anybody" vibes. 💙📚

✅ Pretty Pink Dress ✅ Back Porch ✅ Seltzer ✅ Library Book Got everything I need. 💙📚

Picture of my back porch. The pink fabric of my dress and a brown sandal pole up from the bottom of the image. The main focus is the glass top coffee table with a can of seltzer and the book Son of Nobody by Yann Martel on top. In the background are 2 metal swivel chairs. You can see grass behind the porch railings.
