It's a bacteria that causes plague rather than a virus. Yes, I'm being pedantic!

It is a problem. Family with two parents working, already having trimmed down as much as possible, now struggling to find extra money for takeaway to celebrate a special occasion. So many working class Australians are now effectively slaves - working to simply survive with nothing left for joy.

It's capitalism. It was never going to be sustainable in the long term. It's reached the point where the death wobbles have started. The people at the back of the capitalism bus are being thrown around the most but it is now a rough ride for everyone but the very few left at the front.

Well, they could stop paying the men to play community sport to make it cheaper for the kids. Just a thought.

Looking at my tax return, thousands of $$ handed to a corrupt foreign government for obsolete killing machines (to protect us from our main trading partner) that will never eventuate. Peanuts for environment as thousands of birds die suffering on our beaches and we are told to simply watch on. 😭😭

Pretty sure it is the same with Woolies orders and it is clearly stated policy. I generally order on Tuesday night at the end of the pricing week for delivery Thursday. I know if I open my order to make changes on Wednesday the pricing will change to the current week and I will lose the specials.

Mate, if you want to argue on bluesky you need to offer more than personal insults. My favourite part is you boasting about how advanced your country is based on *check notes* petrol tank size of cars... ...then go on to use the imperial system and describe rooftop solar as 'unusual'. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

In summary: *You comment on EVs despite having no personal experience *You drive very little but value range as the key feature of a car *You feel cars are best kept idle in a garage to avoid depreciation *You don't know what FF is, but parrot their propaganda Thanks for the 🤣. I have enjoyed!

I drive over 30000k a year. I have solar panels. My EV would be cleaner than an equivalent ICE within months. You wanted a study showing that - you got it. I drive my car to get from A to B. Depreciation does not define the value of my car. It's neither a status symbol nor an investment.

www.reuters.com/business/aut... Drive 30000k a year and charge with solar and break even is in months. Reuters study.

When do electric vehicles become cleaner than gasoline cars?
You glide silently out of the Tesla (TSLA.O) showroom in your sleek new electric Model 3, satisfied you're looking great and doing your bit for the planet.

Kathy Mac @kmac-79.bsky.social · 02/07/2026
Producing an ICE is also far from clean. Studies show that the point that an EV becomes cleaner is after a few months of driving. Driving an EV makes you quickly realise how filthy ICE are. In the future ICE will be banned from underground carparks, school zones and CBDs because they are so dirty.

Unfortunately you do have a pollution problem. Given you have a 4x4, you are producing more pollution than the average person driving. It is causing problems for you, the people around you and ultimately all life on the planet. The fact you do not care about your impact is a reflection on you.

A bigger tank makes fuel efficiency worse. Hardly a sign of being 'advanced'. You are jealous because you have to pay $$$ to fill up your large car which you bought to make yourself feel more important. And I power up my little car with sunshine 🌞 Do you want to chat about fumes and emissions?
100
Kathy Mac @kmac-79.bsky.social · 29/06/2026
Yeah champ. You said 'small' car. Now you are talking 4x4. Maybe you need to state the size of your tank. Corolla is 50L
200
Kathy Mac @kmac-79.bsky.social · 29/06/2026
A fuel-efficient Toyota Corolla, the most popular small car in my part of the world, won't get you 800 kilometres let alone miles 🤣🤣🤣 Don't know what FF is? They absolutely own you.

Kathy Mac @kmac-79.bsky.social · 29/06/2026
I've owned ICE, Plug-in Hybrid and now EV. I drive a lot of kilometres every year - urban, highway, dubious tracks out bush. I am speaking from experience. You are just spouting FF propaganda, trying to slow down the transition. Truth - all ICE cars seems shit after you have driven EV.
221
Kathy Mac @kmac-79.bsky.social · 29/06/2026
What planet do you live on? You sound like a bot! Of course I can afford a better car now than when I bought my ICE. I'm older. 😆 Rather than shit, I would call my old ICE economical. I always choose small & efficient over fancy. And my service costs are cheaper in the EV. That's just reality.
110
Kathy Mac @kmac-79.bsky.social · 28/06/2026
You didn't. Less maintenance in an EV than ICE. Battery replacement myth is pushed by FF disinformation propaganda. Tyre wear true but by small percentage points. Again FF clutching at straws. Range is now nearly equivalent and will soon surpass. My current EV has the same range as my last ICE

There is a lot in this article. The fact that she considers an island with no people or no 'high-end' tourist facilities as worthless. Wanting to roll out a welcome mat to war criminals. But, seriously, why the hell would you consider 'giving' a trillionaire anything for free? #auspol

This afternoon on the way home from work I dropped into the petrol station to fill my car up. Just an incredibly boring little task that I have repeated hundreds and hundreds of times over the last 30 or so years. Surreal experience to stand at the bowser and think it might be the very last time.

Probably. And they don't all have short life spans. The one that came with my house died when it was nearly 20 years old...and that included surviving a major bushfire.

I doubt we will run out of fuel. We will no doubt keep stealing fuel away from the poorer south East Asian countries to keep going with 'business as usual'. I worry about the people in Bangladesh and Myanmar, etc. Keeping our oil buffer up is likely making life worse for them.

Harsh on poor mozzies to be grouped in with the others. They are an important food source for lots of critters. If they all vanished overnight, I think it would create more problems than it solved.

I don't know about that. In groups I have been where there is a 'past president' position, you can stand down from the role and leave it vacant. It sounds like she still could be receiving communication from them and have access to info available to the board, even if she is not actively voting.

Apparently I am classed as a 'winner' in this year's budget because I will get a $250 tax break in 2 years time... Given all the fossil fuel industry support and defence spending, how much higher do you think my insurance premiums will be in 2 years time??? So much 'winning' #auspol #budget

You benefit a little with each red button press but at the expense of unseen others. But if enough people keep pressing red, the entire thing collapses. Civilisation crumbles and the world is destroyed. This is actually happening and people are still pushing red. #climatecrisis #collapse

Kathy Mac @kmac-79.bsky.social · 11/05/2026
The blue button/red button discussion is so depressing. People totally out of touch with the importance of community and what being human means. Is it really a hypothetical situation? Think lots of smaller buttons with incremental results. Capitalism whispers in your ear to keep pressing red. 1/2

Palestinian (& Lebanese) children do not have an idyllic childhood. They do not have the benefit of going to school protected by security. They are victims of horrific war crimes by a brutal regime. If you choose to support genocide don't get upset when people point out you are not a good person.

The quarantine centre at Mickleham was opened in 2015. It is where all dog and cats imported to Australia go for their quarantine when imported - so imports from most countries. But also accomodates bees, plants, horses, etc. The human stuff was built later on adjacent spare land.

To let any foreign government be successful in restricting the democratic freedoms of Australians is shocking. To let a foreign power that is currently committing horrendous crimes against humanity do so is disgraceful. We need to push back and call it out. Great article. #auspol

And what about the farmers not even in the US that are also getting crushed by rising fertiliser costs made worse by the idiots in Washington? They did not vote for the orange obscenity. They are far more deserving of sympathy.

Does this mean poorer countries have less because we have snaffled more in this crisis? I don't want to go for a weekend country drive if it means a kid in Bangladesh starves to death...

Is this writer as scared as a paramedic working in Lebanon? As a reporter covering the genocide in the Middle East? As a starving child in a tent in Palestine waiting for a bomb to fall on them? Enough of the constant crying of victimhood. Stop Israel's crimes and the world is safer for everybody.
