I got this plant almost a year ago and it arrived mostly dead because we were in a deep freeze. Now I've gotten it back to health and it's starting to really grow. I find that the new leaves come in pink unique among the other plants I have.

A leafy philodendron brasil with strong lemon lime variegation and several vines have new growth but leaves are a pinkish and haven't turned to their final green and yellow form.

On the morning of August 11, 2026, Jose Mejia Hernandez was walking to a bus stop in Arlington, Virginia, on his way to work. He was alone. He was unarmed. He was committing no crime. Minutes later, Mr. Mejia Hernandez was on the ground beside a government vehicle, his face covered in blood after suffering blunt-force trauma to his head and upper torso. The attack left him with bleeding and swelling in his brain, along with extensive injuries to his face and upper body.

No law enforcement officer interviewed Mr. Mejia Hernandez about what happened to him. A man left his home to go to work. Minutes later, he was suffering from a serious brain injury at the hands of federal immigration officers.

Meanwhile, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security has publicly declared Mr. Mejia Hernandez's account "FALSE." DHS has told the press that its officers merely "rendered aid" and that Mr. Mejia Hernandez was transported to a hospital "out of precaution." But DHS has never answered the most basic question: How does a man walking to a bus stop on his way to work end up bleeding from his brain after an encounter ICE? Mr. Mejia Hernandez deserves that answer. The public does too.

New ferns arrived today. I've been struggling with some of my existing ferns but the foliage of ferns is among my favorites. Something about the pattern I just find intriguing.

3 Boston fern varieties on a tarp over my dining table as a workspace. There's one lemon button, 1 Boston but it's light in color and the one might be a cotton candy fern. Bought these for myself as a birthday gift.

I didn't make the plants per se but I did propagate most of them from cuttings and worked on them for several months to get to this condition today.

A few months ago I had a few plants fail so I've been on propagation tare since them to save the remnants of the plants and I've finally put them altogether after propagating several small plants of each variety to have more thoroughly rooted plants this time. Finally the fruits of the labor.

🪴 🍃 does anyone know the cause of these orangish spots? I have them on a few plants but I'm not sure the cause of them. If it is something that's spreading through my plants the theory right now I have is a bad batch of soil and this is plant zero.

Finished the plant stand. I probably would have saved money just buying a stand but I put this one together myself from parts. This jade pothos needed to be hung high because the leaves are spaced out further than other pothos but they have a dramatic look to me.

View in my room of the rare pothos plants but also I altered all the furniture to my liking and added the adornments. I moved here 2 weeks before lockdowns so I've never totally felt settled, but this wall and display make me happy.

A group, Justice for Democracy, has been sending out mailers and texts with some clear dog whistles, using varying disclaimers in Virginia ("Democracy and Justice PAC" and "Justice for Democracy PAC").

Its treasurer is listed as Christopher Woodfin and its address is the same as WoodfinLaw, which has been listed as "Legal Services" for various Republican Candidates across Virginia, earning over $366K over the past 8 years.

Just got this flyer in the mail. I should also add it has been several years since any Democrat has bothered to do a ground campaign in my area. This is from a GOP front group and doesn't even make sense. More info in the next post.

My kalanchoe plant is blooming. I had to put it in a cabinet for 14 hours a night every night for 2 months during the winter to trigger blooming and it worked! I was sad that the flowers died shortly after I got it last year so I'm glad it bloomed again 🪴 🌱 🍃

Hey #bonsai people. The top 3 plants 🪴 are willows that I've grown from cuttings. The instructions said not to trim or wire and to just let them grow for 1 yr. So it's been a year and despite all the people who say you can't grow willows inside these have survived. What do I do with them next?

Hey 🪴 🍃 plant people. Does anyone know what would cause a nerve plant to do this overnight? There is no deterioration on the leaves. This plant is usually firm and standing straight up and was normal yesterday and when I went to water today it had completely collapsed. Is there anything I can do?
