So I see… a lot of complaints lately about the state of the online autism community and the quality of the information and discourse being shared these days, from…pretty much everyone. And I do thi…

VERY CONCERNING. Tobii Dynavox are world leaders in this type of assistive tech, which allows people to communicate autonomously who would not otherwise be able to.

Prof Arday was harassed for being Black and neurodivergent in academia. We need to show rightwing newspapers that actions have consequences. Add your name: goodlawproject.org/s/abb8a1

And then I discovered that the paper is already posted as a pre-print! Feeling pretty pessimistic about the state of science 😒

Currently angry about the peer review I just completed that was full of fabricated references and poor-quality writing indicative of AI. If you couldn’t be bothered to write a paper, I shouldn’t have to waste my time reading it.

Today feels like the right day to share this. Two months ago, I formally said goodbye to my departmental colleagues in the United States. It pretty well sums up my feelings about America this 4th of July. youtu.be/Cxx-BbPKGo4?...

When I made the decision to leave the United States to protect my trans family, I really hoped I would be proven wrong and things would get better instead of immediately worse.

I am dismayed and disgusted, but not remotely surprised, that the US Supreme Court issued this decision. Banning transgender people from sports protects no one, but it does cause harm. www.scotusblog.com/2026/06/cour...

I am deeply troubled by news that the Trump administration is moving the Office of Special Education Programs (among others) into the Dept of Health & Human Services. Thanks, @ericmgarcia.bsky.social, for putting the right words to my concern.

We produced 19 outcome measures & 12 characteristic modules. Each instrument has a version for autistic ppl & one for caregivers through a multi-phase participatory approach. The measures tested very well (accessible, internally consistent, reliable, good convergent validity, responsive to change).

Note I’ll be on the postdoc market this year (graduating Spring ’27)! Interested in continuing to work w/ nonspeaking autistic ppl and/or furthering training in psychophysiology. I bring experience w/ nonspeakers + HRV, & could help labs extend existing physio work to this group!

New editorial on RFK Jr.’s ableist health policies: journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/...
The messages from US government regarding autism are built on two assumptions that reflect the long-standing ableism underpinning healthcare systems in the United States and many other western
countries. First, they assume that avoiding autism is so desirable that any intervention that might reduce its occurrence should be attempted, regardless of unknown harms and lack of evidence for benefits. Second, it assumes any intervention that is (erroneously) thought to increase the occurrence of autism should be avoided, regardless of robust evidence of benefit including decreased mortality, and weak evidence of association with autism. While these ableist assumptions are not novel, the incoherence of US federal guidance is now on full view.
