So which 20M seniors get it? I assume they’re all in Kansas, Texas, Ohio and Iowa.

Is this a one time payment? Because a quick web search indicates that the standard Medicare Part B premium is over $200/month.

Yeah, unfortunately one who is looking like she’ll yet again be reelected because ME voters care more about her ability to secure a lot of goodies for them than they do her lack of ethical standards or her feigning “concern” about loss of rights or certain WH actions when no such concern exists.

Uihlein - that tells you all you need to know about what the intent is of this measure… and it isn’t making sure only eligible people vote. It’s already a very disingenuous campaign. Oregon mail-in voter here. Is there any other piece of mail that requires people to put a portion of their driver’s license or SS# on the outside of an envelope? I don’t care if it’s just 4 digits, considering the envelope already includes your name & address. I’d vote No if I still lived there.

I unfortunately & regrettably disagree. Sadly, too many accept she’s corrupt (and that she pretends to be concerned when she’s not) as long as she keeps bringing home the bacon. I don’t get her fans who say “care more about state than federal issues.” Do they think Federal policy won’t impact them?

And I’ve always believed there is a percentage of those who claim to be anti-abortion who aren’t really against all abortions. A lot of this is about the attention to declining birth rate reports. In particular, the white birth rates.

There’s probably a lot of things they’re waiting to do until after the midterms. We already know that major Medicaid cuts were deliberately scheduled to happen after the midterms. I’m also sure more press restrictions are coming.

She’s raised more $ than Drazan but I think Drazan has a lot more independent expenditures working on her behalf. Kotek campaign seems pretty quiet here but she may not be focused on greater Portland area. First of 3 debates in Eugene tonight. She needs to somehow avoid playing defense all night.

He lives to be a kingmaker and to keep $ flowing to him. So that means saving this fund to clear the field for his preferred 2028 POTUS & other candidates who will keep providing him with inside information to allow the grift to continue. (And they also won’t tear down his vanity projects.)

Forgot about that. The last time I was laid off (many years ago) I had severance that lasted until the end of the year (about 4 months.) And then I filed for unemployment. Question is how many can and will get rehired before the severance ends.

Why does anyone think that hurts his chances as VP pick? Diehard MAGA usually cares less about accuracy & more about the optics of berating a man, asking questions with the express intent to humiliate & threatening him with perjury…just like Trump. If the goal is to bring out the base, he’s perfect.

If any of them do what we consider the right thing, I don’t know that it will be based on morality (wish it was.) Probably more concerned over liability & wealth impact if AI wreaks excessive havoc on society. On the other hand, havoc could also enhance their power. (“We alone can fix it”)

Agree. Plus the “no opinion” grew from their earlier poll. So assuming at least some of the no opinion-types vote, the margin could be slimmer. At this point it’s more helpful to see head-to-head polling, since people may be unhappy with Trump or the party but may still support their GOP candidate.

How exactly is it his role does to verify her “veracity?” I’m sure the defendants’ lawyers will come prepared to challenge her account since that’s what defense lawyers are paid to do. Why he feels the need to insert himself I don’t know, but it does appear to be his reason for living.

at all. But based on some ballot return news from NJ, both Dem and GOP early vote returns are up (though Dem higher.) So I think the hope GOP will stay home is overblown. That’s why the only thing Dems can & should focus on is turning out their own voters and hoping independents join them. /END

I admittedly don’t spend time going into the details or the “cross tabs” that we often hear referenced in these polls. But anecdotally, polls tighten a month out, not widen. I doubt any staunch republicans would vote for Democrats and vice-verse. The GOP concern has been whether they’ll vote /1

It always seems polls tighten as the election draws closer, in part because undecided voters start deciding (& that usually means backing the devil they know even if life sucks at the moment). Do outlier pollsters ever change their processes after getting it so wrong? Would like to think so.

Yep. I got it wrong. Thought sure it would be about Iran talks since war & gas prices are the biggest drags on his party’s electoral fortunes. Figured it would be another “we’re really bringing the hammer down on Iran” speech. Silly me for assuming it would be something more national in nature.

I say it’s going to be about Iran because much of the reason for GOP woes at the moment is due to the war in Iran and gas prices. So his hope is by saying talks are resuming this week, his voters will credit him for hearing their pleas and pushing to resolve this. And maybe that boosts turnout.

The campaign likely thinks it helps because she won 87% of the black vote in MI in 2024 & he needs that population to turn out for him. He won’t get 87% & the black population is only 12-13% of all voters. But since the race will go down to the wire, I’m sure the thinking is every little bit helps.

I second that. At least at Q&A’s & interviews I’ve seen, he’s never at a loss for words. Prepared & agile & few if any “non-answer” answers. Sure, he quickly segues after being asked about a controversial topic to “but what people really care about is…” but he does address the accusation.

Ya know Colin, there’s a reason why insurers supported the individual mandate in the ACA. Those who don’t access healthcare or file claims (or seldom do) help balance the costs of those who do. Then there’s the fact that life is unpredictable. I just had an ER visit-my first in over 50 years.
