Just back from a week of Austrian mountain hiking - and we fitted in some swims in glacial lakes along the way as well.

Just made it over 10 peaks in under 10 hours - a foggy first half on the summits, clearing to sunny and cool for the second five. Great cake too (thank you!). Glad not to need my Advance Decision but so reassuring to have it on my race bib

This was tough - 8 peaks over 20 miles in 10 hours with a hail storm on Bleabury! At least I didn't need my Advance Decision to Refuse Treatment - my only health issue is sore feeet. Thank you Keswick Mountain Festival for a great day out.

Public observers disillusioned and dismayed by what they see in the Supreme Court. Not what judges hope for from open justice! openjusticecourtofprotection.org/2025/11/10/w...

The judges (and some of the lawyers) need to know that they (unintentionally, I’m sure) displayed what many observers experienced as discourteous and uncivil attitudes to people with disabilities, and a rather cavalier approach to the day-to-day realities of these people’s lives, and the lives of their families and those who care for them. I hope that this blog post enable them to see themselves as other see them and thereby perhaps to generate for themselves some ideas about how to create a more positive image of the court in future.

Superb Sunday hike with @suewilkinson.bsky.social on the Mosedale Horseshoe (11 miles 1,630 metres), Wasdale Head, Black Sail Pass, Pillar, Scoat Fell, Steeple, Red Pike and (sting in the tail) Yewbarrow (lots of scrambling both up and down!). That's 5 more (post-knee-surgery) Wainwrights!

Looking down Sour Milk Gill to Buttermere on the way up Red Pike with @suewilkinson.bsky.social yesterday. Walked along the fabulous ridge from Red Pike summit over High Stile and High Crag - so 3 new (post-knee-surgery) Wainwrights to bring our (post-surgery) total to 100. Yay!!

And another good thing about today - neither of us needed to implement the "Do Not Attempt Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (DNACPR)" decisions we wrote on the backs of our running bibs. They are legally valid ADRTs (and each of us is the others LPA - which might help enforce them).

We set out to do 10 Peaks in 10 hours. It was very hot + humid. We did 5 peaks in 6 hours and decided enough was enough. We ate icecream and caught the bus home. Knowing when to stop is part of playing safely and enjoying the outdoors. Raised funds for ‪@mssocietyuk.bsky.social‬

Hen Comb - #Wainwright summit 87/214 Wainwright describes (accurately) "a desolate tract of marshland and bog encircling the extremity of the fell like a moat, out of which rise the summit slopes as an island from the sea". He's rude about it - a fell "seldom climbed twice" - but we loved it!
