Quaker trends so brown/beige/khaki that it’s tough to say. The crisp style certainly fits that “plain” aesthetic though. It’s lovely in its simplicity. (That green tho!)

It’s so hot the campus where j work is closed tomorrow to conserve energy. They’ve been powering down every day at 3 PM til 7 AM. I have seen enormous climate change/collapse in my son’s lifetime, let alone my own. I’m bereft. And contemplating (again) what matters to me, what work I can do.

I work in public history. My son is in grad school for an MS in biology. I used to think he’d be safe and find a job because science = national security so research was funded, even the pure kind that led to, y’know, CRISPR. Now? I’m scared for him and aghast at the overall waste of talent & drive.

The 33rd Street Giant had a lot of 150th sugar. Swedish Fish, Tootsie Rolls, Haribo gummy bears. It was … uninspiring and lacked coherent arrangement. Didn’t take a pic of the birthday cake Cheerios which were subtly branded to work past July. (lol)

UNC Chapel Hill School of Dentistry? Most dental schools have clinics (including professors). They’d have the most knowledge and current thinking. Tufts and UMaryland both have excellent clinics; Michigan may be the best.

If it’s possible to drop, then as soon as I fulfill my obligation to run Thursday’s session I’m withdrawing. I’m willing to pay back some money to get out.

My plan was fulfill obligation and bail. But I was so unhappy with this class that I am inclined to simply bail. I can take 3 credits some other time. I am also fighting a slide into depression. Dropping would give me more time for things I like. Oh, the guilt.

I’m in a class that’s disorganized and in which expectations are unclear. We developed the syllabus with the professor but she’s been passive aggressive about readings and activities. Tonight was a dog’s dinner of a debate. I’m supposed to run next week, but I really want to withdraw now.

The ice has really hampered things. The city had to send dump trucks and front loaders out to clear downtown intersections, but it is really a mess. Side streets are laughably bad. How did we get used to this in New England??

It’s a summer event, but every June RI burns a replica of the Gaspee… and some years it’s truly a cardboard cut out. I am SO GLAD my new home has a cardboard event in its reenactment canon.

Many lived in Cranston, in what is now Eden Park, but was Sweden Park. I don’t remember all of the specifics (it’s been almost a decade since I was there) but they do seem to have faded away. There’s a very small population left— but a Swedish weaving place in SE Mass and some in coastal CT.

LOLOLOL the Swedes were well known labor organizers in the ports of Providence and Baltimore (and western NYS factories) and probably plenty of places I haven’t studied or worked in. Delicious.
