Also- this doesn't mean exposing yourself to terrible things! Building the tolerance is similar to phobia desensitization/exposure therapy- you need to do it mindfully. If discomfort/distress rule your life to the point where a minor event can ruin your whole day- get help with it. You're not alone

I've got crippling depression, anxiety and CPTSD triggered by "trivial" stuff. Here's what I know: Distress tolerance is like a muscle- don't work at it, it atrophies. That's not to say to give up your beliefs or values- just work at not having your day wrecked when you experience upsetting events
