After my head has cleared somewhat from waking up shaking and crying with sleep paralysis in the middle of the night, then eventually falling back asleep and waking up to my alarm, I've written a new poem about my PTSD. I used to write a lot more free verse and slam poetry but it's been a while.

They say that time is supposed to heal all wounds
but what happens when your body can't forget.
Crying, shaking, numbness, breaking!
but shhh! silence is the way you have to cope when nobody believes you or understands you or believes you or just listens to you without judgement.
Physically here but mentally gone.
Sleep paralysis and nightmares plaguing the mind and holding your hands in handcuffs making you a prison of your experience until the day that you can finally seek the help that you need but cannot afford to reach for because of those that tell you to "just get over it".
If it was that simple I'd be flying free from the memories of the life that I dreamed I would have had before it all came crashing down and shattering as easily as glass.
Glass as clear as the prism that created my rainbow flag that your sudden disappearance from my life brought to the surface.
You left before I could tell you. And it's not okay that you're gone and I'm still here! But I am working on myself and will probably miss you forever.
But healing these wounds will take more than just time. But in the end I'll be fine.

Maybe it's because of my depression, maybe it's because I'm an adult who isn't going to get what they deeply desire, or maybe it's because I work today, but it doesn't feel like it's going to be Christmas tomorrow. or maybe it's because the weather today is in the high 50s (Fahrenheit)?!

I don't think I've ever said this so publicly but my goal weight is 350 pounds, and as of yesterday I'm just under 235, so I've got a long way to go.
