The beginnings of a bobbin lace circle. The pattern is of plaits in centre ring, tallies in middle ring, and picots in outer ring. Multicoloured yarn is used: magenta-lilac, red-orange-yellow, and teal-white. The cardboard pattern has been pinned to a gigantic dark blue pillow.
