Some 3,300 years ago, an ancient Egyptian artist painted this comic illustration of a cat herding geese! 😻 They used a flake of limestone as a sketchpad for this fun scene. From Deir el-Medina, Thebes. 📷 Egyptian Museum, Cairo. #Archaeology

The image shows a buff-coloured flake of limestone with a painted illustration of a cat herding geese, displayed against a black background. On the left of the scene, a tabby cat (brown with black line markings) stands on its hind legs in a human-like pose, facing right. In its upraised left paw it holds out a wooden staff to keep six geese in order. In its right paw it is holding the end of a long crook which it rests on its shoulder. A bag hangs by a strap from the end of the crook behind the cat. The six geese in front of the cat are arranged in two rows of three, one row above the other. The geese have brown legs, and white bodies with black plummage detail. Three of the geese have black painted heads and necks; top left, top right, and bottom middle. Above the geese there is a curved double brown line representing a nest filled with four white eggs in a row. Flake dimensions: H 11 cm x W 11 cm.

bad and good #kitfeesh news this week: i rehomed my seven rosy tetras because the gender ratio did not turn out well. what were supposed to be 2 males with 5 females turned out to be 5 males with 2 females. lot's of uh, territorial bloodshed once they grew up...

photo of an aquarium with several different tetras: pink rosy tetras with red fins, grey phantom tetras with a grey body, black fins and a black vertical stripe on their bodies, surrounded by iridescence. and a single von rio tetra, with a silver body in the front and a red back and two horizontal stripes. THEY'RE ALL VERY CUTE AND PRETTY.

This is probably the largest art I've made in a long time; it's 16x48 inches at 300dpi. All of the animals are inspired by petroglyphs and cave art from around the world on top of the shapes found within the animals themselves. #art #caveart #petroglyph #deer #wolves #ravens #raven #wolf #elk

The artwork is made up of many different petroglyph-inspired animal figures. The animals are all moving to the left. In the foreground you see three wolves and four ravens chasing after two bull elk and one doe in fairly dark lines. In the background are similar style elk that use smaller artwork and lighter lines to represent being further away. All the foreground animals have gold foil circles into their design around their heart's location and airway location. The entire piece has been given a distressed treatment.

obligatory sticky post! i draw in my free time and my full-time job is not art related. my preferred media is watercolors, alcohol-based markers, acrylic markers, ink of various colors and gel pens for accents. lost in the scans are effects like neon, glow in the dark and glitter.
