I'm already rambling today but I really do think that nishiki joined the yakuza for kiryu and yuko respectively. For kiryu because he could never leave kiryu, for yuko because it would get him the money she needed for her treatment faster than a degree and a job

Kiryu would never do this but the idea of a kiryu who can't be mad at kazama for failing nishiki because kazama died in his arms, transplanting that anger towards kashiwagi is very interesting to me.

I said this on priv but I think nishiki knew kazama was the reason his parents died. He didn't tell kiryu because he told himself it would break kiryu but really he was scared that it wouldn't break Kiryu, that kiryu would be okay with it
