Got caught painting in downtown Evanston by a friend driving by. If you ever see me out painting, I am always in this hat. I'll share the finished work next week. #chicago #evanston #pleinairpainting

"Puente Nuevo" 16x20" oil painting on canvas. Fresh off the easel is this glorious bridge in Ronda in southern Spain. I like the brushwork in this one - for me, it's always particularly enjoyable painting rocks and hillsides. #PuenteNuevo #Ronda #Spain #landscapepainting

"Tiger Sauce" 16x16" oil on canvas. For some inexplicable reason, the record-breaking number of #tornados, thunderstorms, smoke, and rain here in #Chicago this year has led me to be rather wary about painting outside. So I have some studio pieces I'm working on, including this amazing creamer set.

"Chateau de Chaumont" plein air oil on canvas at Grove and Chicago Ave in #Evanston. Out two afternoons in a row to capture where the sun was just turning such that both sides of this lovely Parisian building were almost equally lit. @evanston-made.bsky.social @evanstonroundtable.bsky.social

"Centennial Fountain" plein air oil on canvas, at the Merrick Rose Garden in #Evanston. Lots of amazing preservation work has gone into saving this beautiful fountain - I've been wanting to paint it backlit for a while. I'm switching up my technique, I think. We shall see. #chicago #chicagoart

"Washington Elementary School" 9x12 inches plein air oil sketch. Beautiful morning that was neither raining nor too hot; the weather has been pretty crazy here in Chicago and I was happy to get out. #evanston #evanstonschools #northshore #Chicago

Here's both a blurry and off-center video, whoops. "Two Blue Umbrellas" plein air oil on canvas done at Evanston's South Beach Boulevard. Some pretty purple shadows. #chicago #lakemichigan

Sprinting to catch the sunrise or sunset is exhilarating! Now working on turning this plein air sketch of the Chicago skyline into a larger studio painting. #oilpainting #chicago #investment

“Morning on Michigan Ave” 14x11” plein air oil sketch. Almost done with painting the Chicago skyline from Lincoln Park / Lake Michigan, now working on the interior of the city! As usual, my primary interest is of color and color harmonies. #Interiordecorating #chicagoart #oilpainting

"Popsicle Stand" 11x14" oil on canvas. This plein air sketch again looking down the Chicago skyline is all about the warm kaleidoscope of colors of these beautiful buildings in the morning sun. #goldcoast #chicago #lincolnpark

“Overcast on Lake Shore Drive” 14x11” oil on canvas. I might have one more painting of the Chicago skyline left in me before the season ends. It’s been a great run! #chicago #oilpainting #investment

“Late Afternoon on the Pond” 22x28” oil on canvas. Three afternoons at the Toledo Botanical Garden. A small trail loops around the edge of the pond, and I heard frogs plopping and fish darting the entire time - lovely! #oilpainting #pleinairpainter #impressionism

“View from Sara’s Window” 24x12” oil on canvas. In addition to brand new baby there’s been an unusual amount of rain and terrible air pollution, which I am particularly sensitive to. So here’s a “plein air” piece painted from a comfortable window! #allaprima #weather #chicago

It’s been all hands on deck with new baby but I am glad I got a chance to see the new @artinstitutechi.bsky.social special exhibit on Caillebotte! This exhibit is a can’t-miss if you have any interest in the Impressionists. #chicago #impressionism #paintings

“Theater on the Lake” 14x18” oil on canvas. This was one of those pieces that was utterly effortless. Some paintings you are fighting every step of the way, but this one was a dream, and one of my new favorites. I hope you like it as much as I do. #lincolnpark #lakemichigan #chicago

“Morning at Arrington Lagoon” 14x18” plein air oil sketch. 2.5 hours at Dawes Park in Evanston, IL. I loved the deep morning shadows but do not love the biting flies that keep attacking me all around Chicagoland! Any advice? #chicago #evanston #pleinair

"Gold Coast" - 24x36" oil on canvas. Brilliant sunny morning(s) in Lincoln Park looking out at the Chicago skyline. It was very interesting finding ways to capture the magnitude of this view. "On the Bridge Over South Pond" 16x20" oil on canvas. This sketch in Chicago's Lincoln Park Zoo is really special to me because my Dad - who taught me how to paint when I was a girl - drove down with me and we both painted on the bridge together. @lpzoo.org #lincolnparkzoo #chicagoart #chicago

"Doorway to Heaven" 26x30" oil on canvas. This beautiful cathedral is in my neighborhood. The light only hits the front of the building in this manner for an hour each day beginning at dawn so I got up early three days in a row and painted it on location. #religiousart #pleinairpainter #catholic
