Question: In light of the PPA AI paper debacle, now, whenever I review a paper, I ponder whether it's AI. I understand PPA's decision to respect their publisher rules on AI use, but personally I just do not want to review AI papers. Is there a way to communicate that w/o overburdening editors?

Against my better judgment, I sit in another “AI & education” workshop. Apparently the answer to “how do we ethically push back on AI” is “there’s this start up that teaches people of color how to self-advocate in the AI scene”. Okay, I guess the answer is to have marginalized people solve it all 🙄

So, I slept on it and decided to whine some more. Just to be clear: I asked my question at the 15min mark of a 30min long Q&A block and was told to “wrap it up” after ~5 sentences. The last Q was just as long. Does it have something to do with me being the only nonwhite person to ask a Q? Who knows.

Hello philosophers, I’m on Bluesky. #philosophy Some of you may know that I hosted a philosophy Mastodon for a few years. When I shut it down, I was going to stop doing social media. But today I realized I couldn’t afford to be off social media. It wasn’t an option for me. 1/
