That’s true, but I think the solution there is avoiding euphemisms and using more really direct, plain language. Mamdani’s campaign was good at presenting concrete goals (childcare, property taxes, city-owned grocers) in plain language, avoiding jargon and academic language.

Common could just be like Swahili or classical Malay. In Forgotten Realms, it’s described exactly that way. Chondathans had the most similar language, but they’d switch to Common abroad which was easier to follow and widely understood.
