like this is good that there are transmascs that seem to be finally speaking up against the mra trends, this is how the pushback in their own spaces starts, with them finding safer places to begin acknowledging it. hopefully the trans guys who recognize this for what it is confront others more now.

you know the reddit stuff is horribly bad this time when actual supportive transmascs are going into r/mtf and posting like this. there are a few of these around, not many but still some, and thats not something i remember seeing much of other times.

of course this comment is the first that comes up when you sort by controversial on the trigger post. this is how it always goes when this happens. its like a time loop, twice a year on reddit the dam bursts in r/ftm and spills into the general subs and the whole song and dance happens again.

if any trans masc or trans man reading this has ever felt this way, there is a lot of texts and essays and blogs written by trans women who talk about these things at great length. read talia bhatts essays without glazing yourself in disgust for her, with the good faith of us assuring you *we know*.

ive written many comments about this sort of thing specifically when discussing my desire for trans men to moderate their spaces better to remove MRA, TERF, and incel rhetoric & seek community with trans women. desire for them to embrace that the struggles they feel are what we felt our whole lives.

An excerpt from Isaac's essay reading as follows:

"And yet, at the same time, acknowledging me as anything but a man was hardly better. It hurt differently, though. When you’ve been nothing but misgendered your whole life, you become numb to it. Every so often, that nerve springs to life and makes you scream out in pain, but then it dies again, and you forget. It’s exhausting.

Maybe the fatigue of it all is exactly why we have such a visceral reaction at times to being called men. So often, when we are acknowledged as men directly, it’s to scold us, like when someone points out instances of us being (trans)misogynistic. And while these criticisms absolutely need to be made -- God knows I make them frequently -- I also understand the resistance to them. When nobody ever sees you, when everyone only ever treats you like shit, it just makes you want to scream, for the love of God, shut the fuck up! Look how bad it is for me! Look how mistreated I’ve been my whole life! I’m terrified of men too! Why do you hate me! What did I ever do!

When I struggled with being a Man before, I often found myself resentful of trans women. I couldn’t articulate it well then nor understand why I felt that way. It seemed like they were getting all the attention while I not only suffered in silence, but had my suffering denied and punished whenever I expressed it."
