I spent 20 years to the week, trying to get my mother to understand the harm she brought to my life and how she kept me at arm's length from relatives. Cut her off 2 years ago, she died this year. The whole extended family got to see me for real after her memorial service, and liked who they found.

There are more complicated use cases of that bridge. For instance, you can set up a fedi account on a fediverse server, and make it show up on Bluesky with a custom domain name, but if this Bsky your primary space, that's not too useful for you.

Right, but think about how trans people are called phrases like "trans identified (fe)male" in turbocharged misgendering. That externally enforced language is part of structural transphobia. It's easier, and less reinforcing of oppressive language, to call them traitors or enemies to trans people.
