Hey, y'all! I had a fairly active Twitch channel for a while 3 years ago and then depression and real life happened! Now I'm (mostly) over that and back on medication and reunited with the original other half of URG! If interested folks wouldn't mind giving a follow, I'd love it! :D Streaming soon!

I also sometimes forget that liking/hearting status updates is not the same as reaching out personally. I need to do a better job if taking care of my long distance friends, so I will.

Bert @kingbert.bsky.social · 23/01/2025

I'm up there every few months since we moved to Georgia, so I'll reach out when I am and see if y'all are around. I'd love to finally see you and your husband again. And I'm actually slightly better at following through with social plans these days!

This is a powerful reminder to me to focus on object permanence. I'm so busy typing shit on the internet that I don't think to check in on the people I know personally who are affected by current events. I obviously can't speak for all the cis folks out there, but I'll personally try and be better.

Sure you can't wait till like mid-February? :(

If the right is taking "My heart goes out to you", the left should take "Cheers for the Tin Man"

So there's this thing where some people made a randomizer out of final fantasy iv and one of the random things is the final boss sprite being replaced with some pop culture/meme character. My first time running it, the final Boss Zeromus transformed into Noidomus. True story.

Bert @kingbert.bsky.social · 18/01/2025

I will defend Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin until my dying breath.

010

Bert @kingbert.bsky.social · 12/01/2025

It's not a 10/10 for sure, but I feel like the people who are complaining the loudest about Dragon Ball Daima never watched original Dragon Ball and have only seen Z and Super. It's not supposed to be all about fighting. It's an adventure series, just the original!

010

Bert @kingbert.bsky.social · 11/01/2025

Marry Bones, because he may be gruff, but I bet he knows how to treat a partner right Fuck Spock, but only during his Pon Farr cuz you *know* that shit will get wild Kill Kirk. I will not elaborate.

Bert @kingbert.bsky.social · 11/01/2025

I can't be certain based on the box alone, but I *think* this is RoboCop, y'all.

000

Bert @kingbert.bsky.social · 03/01/2025

It is insane to me that my friendship with all of you fuckin' weirdos has endured for 20 years. The forum may have essentially moved to Discord, but we're all still around and it's basically the coolest thing.

110

Bert @kingbert.bsky.social · 23/12/2024

That would buy so many delicious pizzas.

Bert @kingbert.bsky.social · 23/12/2024

I haven't smoked a cigarette since August 25, 2020. I still think about cigarettes every day. Not in like a "I'll kill someone if I can't smoke soon" kinda way, more just like a momentary "Goddamn I could smoke right now" when something stressful happens kinda way. Also I sometimes dream about 'em

For those who may not know, because many of my friends aren't into anime, AMV stands for Anime Music Video. It is as cringe as it sounds and I'm far too old to care. I'm livin' my best life, goddammit.

000

Bert @kingbert.bsky.social · 23/12/2024

So I haven't done one since like 2004 probably, but I'm going to Momocon next year and there's an AMV contest and I'm thinking about doing one because I was driving home and "Feelings" by The Offspring came on and I had a funny idea.

My Kingdom to be able to go back and experience *that* Season 1 moment for the first time again. Genuinely one of the best in TV history.

I lived in Prineville and Redmond, Oregon for a combined 3 years. I hated so much of it because of how intensely red the whole area was. Going to Bend for dates w/ my partner when we could find a babysitter was a breath of fresh air. Glad it continues to be a shining blue beacon in that sea of red.

There's a Midwest chain called Taco Johns that (in the late '90s/early '00s) used the song "Feliz Navidad" but after "From the bottom of my heart" it continues "And from Taco Joooooohnnnn's!" and to this day, no matter what version of the song I hear, I sing that extra bit. youtu.be/oe11ZxGHJMw

To expand slightly on one, while I don't *personally* mind the track selection (it's my favorite Final Fantasy), the Endwalker Battle BGM they chose isn't even an Endwalker original! It's the boss theme from Final Fantasy IV! Granted, it's probably the best version of that song ever, but still!

000

Bert @kingbert.bsky.social · 13/12/2024

I'm not an Apple guy, so I'm *so* glad to get a chance to finally play Fantasian now that it's on other platforms. That said, the choices for some of the FF battle music (looking at you, FF7Remake and Rebirth, Endwalker, and Dawntrail tracks) for standard battles *super* don't fit.

Bert @kingbert.bsky.social · 09/12/2024

The crazy thing is that dude was super chill the whole time. All 4 of us were in the chat having fun and giving basically an "Aw, shucks" when someone's combo went off and cleared our shit. Even the zombie player was all LOLs when his graveyard got exiled. Dude didn't dick around till it was just us

110

Bert @kingbert.bsky.social · 09/12/2024

Asshole ruined one of the best commander games I've had in a long time.... 4/4

110

Bert @kingbert.bsky.social · 09/12/2024

Like, I'll let ya show me the cool thing one time when we've been having fun for an hour and a half, but if you waste time doing it again and making it clear you're gonna do it till I have nothing left, I don't give a shit, I'm scooping at instant speed. 3/4

110

Bert @kingbert.bsky.social · 09/12/2024

And the other player has a board state but no fliers, 4 life, and no open mana and you have a 7/7 flier....don't do a "steal all the opponent's shit" combo more than once. Just fucking end it, damn. 2/4

110

Bert @kingbert.bsky.social · 09/12/2024

Look, if you're in a 4-player commander game in a client from 2001 that's held together with duct tape and hope, and that Gane was going great, and everyone's deck was evenly "doing the thing," and everyone was having fun, and it's down to you and one other player 1/4

"Favorite Season?" Autumn. I lobe the leaves changing and the cool, crisp air.

000

Bert @kingbert.bsky.social · 02/12/2024

"Play any instruments?" I theoretically play bass! By this, I mean, I have one and know how to play it and read tabs/recognize notes. I just.... Don't ever practice at all because executive dysfunction.

"Whats your perfect date?" April 25th. It's not too hot, not too cold, all you need is a light jacket.

Don't ever let it go! The world needs optimists (and I'm right there with you!)

000

Bert @kingbert.bsky.social · 22/11/2024

Two things to note about this: 1) This was circa 2006. I wasn't even 19 yet. B) I would have lost that fight because I do not fight, but I was ready to defend my correctness, dammit.

I literally almost came to blows with someone once over that stupid Legend of Zelda song that was mislabeled as a System of a Down song (You know the one)

100

Bert @kingbert.bsky.social · 22/11/2024

On a completely separate note, waiting for 11 AM US Eastern so I can try and get my partner some good spots for a Stray Kids concert in our city. They are incredibly anxious, but I'mma make it happen. (Praise be to RNGesus)

Bert @kingbert.bsky.social · 22/11/2024

Sometimes I miss the days when I had to weigh the convenience of downloading a single, mislabeled song instead of having to buy a whole album against the risk of giving my computer 37 STIs

I have other games to play but in my heart of hearts, I really just want to start a new game in Metaphor: ReFantazio.

My mom and grandma teaching me to be kind and respectful and helpful always and, like, I just sort of...did that forever.

I am someone who intensely enjoys liking things. I am also a person who enjoys being relentlessly positive (I do know when to tone it down). I am all of my super talented friends' biggest fan and I am not ashamed of that fact. Let's be friends so I can hype you up in all of your endeavors!

Sony acquiring Kadokawa would be an even bigger travesty than Microsoft's acquisition of a dozen game companies, including Activision-Blizzard, in the last ~10 years.

000

Bert @kingbert.bsky.social · 19/11/2024

Some things owned by Kadokawa Holdings: -Notable Game Studios: Acquire, FromSoft, Spike Chunsoft -25 Publications -Multiple Media groups, including NicoNico -Film and visual FX studios -Several overseas ventures And a whole WHOLE lot more.

100

Bert @kingbert.bsky.social · 19/11/2024

This is not just about a video game company. Kadokawa is a *massive* holdings company with fingers in entirely too many pies, including anime, which Sony is already quickly monopolizing with its ownership of Crunchyroll AND Funimation. There are also other media types and non-media businesses.

100

Bert @kingbert.bsky.social · 18/11/2024

Plus that Castlevania DLC is real good! Still no vampires tho.

100

Bert @kingbert.bsky.social · 18/11/2024

My vote is for Metaphor also. It's very annoying that a DLC is going to sweep

100

Bert @kingbert.bsky.social · 12/11/2024

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. One of the best, most complete and cohesive stories in all of anime with complex characters, respectful representation of trauma and disabilities, and an intensely anti-imperialism message.
