Google finally answered the AirTag. The new Pixel Tag costs $29, works only on Android, and uses Bluetooth Channel Sounding plus UWB — technically sharper than Apple's older signal-strength tracking. Replace the battery yourself, drop it anywhere (IP67). The tracker wars have a new player.

Nvidia held 55% of China's AI chip market last year. In 2026, analysts project domestic accelerators (Huawei, Cambricon) will take ~90%, leaving US vendors with just 10%. China must still 2.2x its chip output to make it. The great decoupling is now measurable.

Alibaba just shipped Qwen3.8-27B — an open-weight AI model built to run on ordinary laptops. It also open-sourced the weights of Qwen3.8 Max, its most powerful model. Qwen variants now have 2.6x more derivatives on Hugging Face than Meta's. The on-device AI war is on.

New Jersey just passed the toughest kids' online safety law in the US. Effective Sept 2027: no addictive personalized feeds for under-18s without parental consent, no notifications during school hours or between midnight and 6 a.m., highest default privacy. Big Tech is on notice.
