What I'm saying is, these glasses should by law be made the ugliest chunkiest shit with "warning: you may be being filmed" printed on a thick bar across the top, basically across the wearer's forehead

I read a futuristic space SciFi novel once where in passing it mentioned that news reporters by law still had to use bulky cameras clearly marked with their news org, even though the tech allowed it to be tiny. Most of the camera was hollow and the camera operator could store snacks in it

There were also full size rearing unicorn statues in neon pink that I would put either side of the entrance. Go full trashy. Btw that giraffe skeleton is $2,900, which is probably not a frivolous splurge to a real multi-millionaire, but my currently most expensive piece of art is a $60 print, so

I saw this 8-foot tall gold giraffe skeleton advertised on Facebook marketplace, and immediately decided if I was ever rich enough to have a mansion I was going to put that in the dining room

"discomfort" in the emergency ward, no one is ever comfortable in the emergency ward. Everyone there is either sick or injured, or there with someone sick or injured, or working with sick and injured people. There's so many other things more worthy of being discomforted by in an emergency ward

"I don't want black people in this emergency ward because my mother is racist and would be discomforted by their presence, and then I would have the discomfort of being associated with her, so it would just be easier for us if you banned black people from receiving emergency care here" equivalent

Especially if you're pregnant. After the 2019 Black Summer fire season in Australia there was a spike in premature births and difficulties in pregnant women in smoke affected areas, women who'd never smoked a cigarette showed the same symptoms as if they'd smoked throughout pregnancy

Added benefit that the 9 other good things would probably also improve the lives of trans people as well as everyone else.

If trans rights is the only thing they focused on, yeah it would probably lose a lot of voters. But if they promised 9 good things that are going to vastly improve the life of the masses, the masses will be better able to accept the 10th thing being support for trans rights.

Then later he decided he was too addicted to his phone so he bought a safe with a timer to put his devices in at night. I never thought to ask him whether that meant he had to turn his expensive smart lights off by hand while his devices were locked up.

Years ago one of my co-workers told us he spent over a thousand dollars on smart lightbulbs that he could control dimming and colour with an app and supposedly they sensed light conditions and adjusted themselves. He was surprised we were sceptical about the actual value of that

1939 Europe had to draw troops and supplies from colonies including African ones.

I assume "1939 Europe" means just Europe, and not include the millions of colonial and dominion forces, supplies and weaponry that went to support the war effort, right?

Just a constant flick through of snippets of old sitcoms, AI ads for fake things, recipes that always seemed to involve cheese and bacon, AI generated politics and AI generated narrated stories that always involved a little girl innocently dealing some adult a life lesson. Drove me mad to hear it

Sadly Facebook is still good for local community groups and events, so I haven't fully left it yet, though I can't remember the last time I've posted. I overheard my mum flicking through Facebook reels like a teen addicted to tiktok the other day though and it sounded like such garbage

A coworker asked copilot for advice a couple of weeks ago, and it responded by providing her with a document a boss had created. I asked if it was something this boss had meant for sharing with staff and she didn't know, but I'm still curious. It has access to everything on SharePoint

For starters she could barely hear me, and when I realised she had passengers I was like I need to talk about your dog's shit and what the vet said, your passengers don't need to have those details blasted through the car at them, just call me later when you're actually free to talk

Kimmylea @kimmylea.bsky.social · 06/10/2026
I was recently dog-sitting for her while she was away when the dog got diarrhoea, so went to the vets and texted mum saying "not urgent, give me a call when you have a moment free". Her car reads out the message, and she calls me back with passengers in the car doing 100kmh on a rural highway

My mum always has her phone on speaker and will make non-urgent calls while driving (and then complains if the audio is sketchy or too quiet compared to the car noises). Yes the technology allows you to make calls while driving, but doesn't mean you always have to use it

Lots of nice places to walk and check things out along the river, lots of parklands, lots of alfresco and outdoor events. Like you could be in the city and then suddenly in a patch of rainforest. And then a little lagoon pool/beach that's free to use

I haven't been to Las Vegas to compare that, just live on the GC. And obviously a place will feel different depending on whether you're visiting or live there. but to balance out the schoolies/glitter strip reputation we're also a top retirement destination 😆

Gold coast has all the canals and marinas and golf courses though. Beaches, humidity. There's only one casino on the Gold coast (plus pokies and keno in all the pubs, but that's not limited to the Gold Coast. We even have a suburb named Miami

It's very suburban, lots of trees and greenery. Last government made all public transport 50c flat rate, and so far that has stuck which is very cool. People tend to be out early to beat the heat. Gets humid in summer. I live on the Gold Coast which is nearby and pretty comparable to Miami.

They say it HAS to work because so many execs and and managers have put so much faith in it and invested so much into it that they will look like fools if it fails or turns out to be a grift. The onus is put on the worker to help the boss save face.

I came to this conclusion after watching Good Omens final and building a zoo out of Magna tiles with my nephew. We built it, we populated it, and for a few seconds it sat there perfect before we got bored and had to meddle to enact a dramatic zoo escape. Then the apocalyptic end

If you take the Bible literally, God comes across as a pre-schooler who meticulously builds a world out of Lego, manipulates the characters for whatever drama goes on in his head at the time, breaks and rebuilds some of it, then gets bored and knocks it all over to go play on the trampoline instead
