Oh, man. This happened just last week. So many folks missed that it was a joke.

Post by Franklin D. Roosefella from July 24: "If Andy Beshear doesn't get off his ass and sign a right back for Everton, he's finished in Democratic politics."

A joke about Beshear's limited power and Premier League football got many responses by people who didn't ask where Everton is or what's a "right back" but eagerly piled on with outrage at Kentucky's governor, even tagging him.

So "Oldman Teeps" blocked me for calling his post tone-deaf, callous and arrogant. I said what I said.

Some old dude boasting about his meal to dunk on the US, while people in his country are losing everything to wildfires. Canadian government policies have prevented First Nations people from conducting controlled burns and now whole communities are gone and people have fled for their lives.

"Nice living in Canada...tonight, we had salad, with lettuce, and romaine lettuce, mandarin orange slices and berries...not even a little worried about the plumbing, because we do not have morons running our country."

Post by "Oldman Teeps" in response to his post yesterday in which he gloated about being able to eat food safely unlike in the US while over 850 fires are burning across Canada and Native communities have been destroyed. Thousands of people responded, calling him out:

Settle in for storytime! Someone posted a funny image of two different dishes of macaroni and cheese. On the left was a beautiful baked dish labeled "Juneteenth". On the right was a bland, non-baked dish labeled " Fourth of July". Someone need Jeanette responded in anger, to which I replied, "It's just a funny meme, Jeanette!". She responded, still upset, saying that it seemed "judgey" (is that a word?).

So, in the spirit of banter and silliness, I replied saying "JEANETTE. On this solemn day of remembrance of the day 30 years ago when aliens nearly destroyed all of life on Earth, and we're only here because Jeff Goldblum saved us, you're offended by a perennial macaroni meme? THEY KILLED HARRY CONNICK JR, JEANETTE." (If you don't know, this is the film "Independence Day")

So she blocked me. Or maybe it was because I later added, "I forgot that Bluesky is where humor goes to die. This is a designated no-craic zone."

We have them for dinner mostly. It's simply a quirky get-together in dreary midwinter. Nothing ritualistic about the pancake; just an easy and fun way to use up fats before the season of fasting for some Christians. It's intergenerational, laid-back and anyone is welcome to come and eat.

Contrary to Mr. Google, pancakes really have no religious significance for most Christians, but it's also not a new trend. They're simply a fun and easy way to use up fats before some Christians fast during Lent and a fun way to bring people together. Anyone is welcome.
