Every time a worker finds their voice, our movement gets stronger. That's how we build the future of care. One leader, one workplace, one victory at a time.

I've spent years standing alongside caregivers and the people they support, and I know there's no substitute for being able to receive care at home. That is the dignity IHSS care funding protects.

Statement from SEIU Local 2015 President Arnulfo De La Cruz on the recent U.S. DOJ Opinion Undermining ADA Integration Mandate - SEIU2015
“We are deeply alarmed by this opinion, which is a blueprint for abandoning our family members and loved ones with disabilities. Twenty-seven years ago, the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision in Olmstead v. L.C. affirmed that people with disabilities have the right to live and receive care in their communities instead of being forced into institutions. […]

Millions of families are learning what caregivers already know: care is 24/7 work. It requires love, labor, sacrifice and stress. We need a system that values care workers, supports families, and treats care like an essential service for the betterment of our communities.

Care work is essential, yet it remains deeply underpaid and undervalued. The undervaluing of care work is no accident. it’s a continuation of the misogyny that permeates our society and workforce, dismissing jobs dominated by women. It must stop!
