I spend the majority of my time at a computer and drawing tablet working on projects that span months and in some cases years, so it was brilliant to get out and paint this by hand. The store is also gorgeous, and the staff are just so lovely so it was brilliant to spend the day there.

The Portobello Bookshop asked me to paint their summer window earlier this month. And honestly it was a real treat.

Hey creative people! What do you do when you want to create great work so badly it gets in the way of getting it done?

I had an urge to draw the crocuses. I love when they appear as little reminders that spring is nearly here. Does anyone else feel like the last two months have flown by? #crocuses #spring #illustrationartists

The AOI have a creative practice book cover course on at the moment. A session with AD Ellie Game suggested creating a cover with an illustration you already have. I turned my peach illustration into a cover that I think would suit a modern romance novel or sex therapy book. What do you think?

I was asked to create a cover that showed a landscape that wasn’t of one place in particular but felt Scottish. I created this imagined landscape based off of references and my experience of wandering through the Scottish countryside.

I recently illustrated an 8 page kids activity booklet for EDF Renewables about Raptors.

I really enjoyed reading this book. It’s an eccentric sort of a travel memoir that takes you on a journey exploring the moons meaning in numerous countries and through art, mysticism and literature.

I had a little bit of downtime last week so I mocked up this book cover just for the fun of it. I’ve used dark purple here to convey an all encompassing velvety night and am imaging the moon and it’s reflection being an iridescent foil or a spot uv varnish to give the path of light an ethereal feel.

The pattern I made last summer from my museum sketches of ancient artefacts is now on a LOQI bag. It’s part of their new Designboom collection which is being shown off at the Maison & Objet in Paris this week alongside their other amazing new stuff. How exciting it that? #illustratedpattern

I just walked past a dried up old Christmas tree. It raises so many questions. Have they finally decided to throw it out now that they could buy a new one? Have I missed the holiday season entirely and it’s 2024 already?

Tattoos were religiously significant for the Mayans. They believed some of the power of the gods could be attained by capturing them in ink on their skin. A Mayan deity called Acat steadied the artists hands and blessed the ink and the sharp reeds used for drawing. #ink #folktaleweek2023

This is a personal project. I had some drawings in my sketchbook from two prompts ‘Quiet moment’ and ‘Afternoon Tea’. They made me think of serene Japanese tea gardens, the slow quiet ritual of tea ceremonies, and of being transported somewhere truly peaceful for a moment.
