yarn on the right is what i intended to use when i bought all my materials for the project, bc the more saturated color would look a bit better; but the yarn i actually used, on the left, looks much closer to the shade i use for the stole in my illustrations! so no problem!!

a selection of buddies from brood XIII :) all the Magicicada i encountered were very goofy and docile, and absolutely ITTY BITTY compared to annuals!

two dozen or so periodical cicadas on the siding and concrete foundation of a house. A few are actively emerging from their nymphal shells; the rest are fully sclerotized adults. Most have fully inflated, dried wings, but a few have wings that are partially twisted or crumpled. Several more adults sit on the ground below, surrounded by empty nymph shells.

finally started fixing up my beloved hand-me down jeans!! i learned so much just from doing these little reinforcements

Ara Taylor | Wild potato vine. A member of the bindweed family, this plant is perhaps best known for its sweet potato-like roots; but its flowers belie the fact that it is also a morning glory, blooming at the end of summer and into early fall when many other flowers are finished for the year.

new little fantasy man that i’m in love with. i just think he’s neat

little eriosomatinae aphids flying around the yard this week like fairies :) i finally got one to land on me for a second and its first response was to attempt to eat me

a woolly aphid sitting on the tip of my thumbnail. It is small and bluish-white, and covered in filaments of a waxy secretion that give it the appearance of being covered in long white fuzz. It has very thin legs, antennae, and wings, two tiny black compound eyes, and a piercing-sucking mouthpart that is extended straight downwards.
