There is no amount of denying Daisy and Tom can do to convince me neither of them really had NO idea about the Love Hypothesis origins.

Selling on eBay in 2026 is having every person complain to you that “hey this didn’t come with this item! I feel like this was inaccurately described” (Complaining about an item that was not pictured nor did the description say was included?!)

I can agree to disagree about a lot of media takes, but I saw a take that said "Nolan shouldn't even have attempted to make an anti-war approach to the Odyssey because it's not going to change anyones mind about war" and that is the bleakest approach I've seen about storytelling in a while.

At the end of the day, what it means to me may not be what it means to you. And that's good. That's why these stories have changed so much over the years, that's why tastes have changed. I just fundamentally disagree with "one right way" to tell these stories, when it is impossible to.

050

CT | Hooked on Chthonics @kierqe.bsky.social · 27/07/2026

Mythological stories are religious stories. Which are metaphors interpreted hundreds of different ways for hundreds of different peoples over thousands of years. I think it's important to tell these stories for the audience hearing it, and for what people of the day need to hear.

150

CT | Hooked on Chthonics @kierqe.bsky.social · 27/07/2026

Something I've been given a lot of grief about is my interpretation of Circe, and her turning men into pigs and woodpeckers as metaphors and her NOT being a purely spiteful being. So I loved seeing how it was approached in the film.

250

CT | Hooked on Chthonics @kierqe.bsky.social · 27/07/2026

To me, mythologically accurate or historically accurate isn't really a thing. We aren't even 100% sure Homer was a real person, or a name given to oral tradition. And the thing about oral tradition... is that is changes. It travels. It becomes something new for the people who are hearing it.

140

CT | Hooked on Chthonics @kierqe.bsky.social · 27/07/2026

As someone who has spent the last 5 years writing The Odyssey 'Fan fiction' (Webtoon), I really enjoyed what the film had to say about the character. I've always disliked Odysseus, and thought Nolan's approach on the character was far more interesting than something "myth accurate".
