Claude has been going badly off the rails in the Lucasartsifier project. I'm trying an approach where I have Astra write specs, then I hand them to Claude, then Astra reviews the changes. So I take the specs from the customer to the software engineer.... I have agentic skills!!

Claude and I were able to get Quest for Glory 1 and 2 from intractable to the Lucasartsifier to taking a handful of minutes each to run. But the shape of the games is so different than pure-adventure games that I've decided to park them for now.

TIL King's Quest 5 is even more evil than I thought. In the village at the beginning of the game there are a bunch of merchants that all require payment for goods. They will all accept a variety of payments, BUT you can waste on a merchant a form of payment that another merchant REQUIRES. AAAAAAAAAH

The Lucasartsification of King's Quest 6 is finally here! Featuring a new engine (the point & click SCI 1.1 rather than the text parser SCI0 of the previous games) and 2 guard modes: Full prevents you from doing anything silly, and Lite lets you do it after a warning.

Spent a few days rewriting the Lucasartsifier to use abstract interpretation of decompiled sources. Pretty sure it surfaces all the gates now and patches them appropriately. It even prevents you from wasting inventory! Read more at github.com/katiahayati/...

It woorks! Here is a short demo of the initial proof of concept of my Lucasartsifier. The tool automatically detected that Larry needs a few more items from LA in order not to die later, and automatically inserted code that prevents him from giving his ticket to the gate agent until he obtains them.

I'm building a tool (with Claude) to automatically turn Sierra games into Lucasarts games :D, by removing the stuck states. So far it can detect the causes of the stuck states by itself and can remove them. Now to actually recompile the SCI resource files and try to play them!
