I love all the different ways people connect in our city and I want to make sure they are affordable, accessible and easy to reach. When people feel connected their community, they feel like they belong. It’s what makes Langford feel like home.

I asked about this and I’m told that Evo is collecting great data on use and the service is going well. I’m not sure when council is getting an update. Our first Active Transportation Plan is coming to council very soon though so it could be a good time to talk about the first year of the program.

These are the stations I actually use the most as transit to my part of Langford isn’t ideal for getting me to the 95. We have many Evo stations near transit stops.

Absolutely. I just didn’t want it to look like Langford was a pilot, it’s not. We’ve also embraced e-scooters and my understanding is that it’s been a good fit for the west shore community.

I need to point out that Langford did go through a RFP process as well and we went with a BC nonprofit with regional service potential. I respect that Victoria asked for different things in your RFP but to suggest this doesn’t lead to regional transportation fragmentation is disingenuous.

Collaboration with community-driven organizations that work in primary care is a strong component of success. The South Island Primary Care Society has been incredibly effective at bringing doctors into our community and managing the practice. We are grateful for their partnership!

What are the benefits of a local government partnering to address the doctor shortage? For one, we can make use of local land use knowledge to improve access. Both this proposed clinic and our current clinic are on bus routes, near AT corridors, and in areas planned for dense population.

You’re right, we have a long way to go. If the community votes for continuity in the fall, we can follow through with implementation. Soon we should see the city’s first ATP which will dovetail into the land use/transportation connections in the OCP. We’ve also been making strides with sidewalks.

Local governments are the closest level of government to communities and we have deep understanding of the impact of policies and investment. UBCM resolutions offer an opportunity for a low-cost and highly effective province-wide gaps analysis. It’s a shame there isn’t more space for debate.
